Chapter 136: Taking the spy girl to Alvonia.
Ogain soared through the sky, his wings slicing the air with effortless grace. Every time Calisa came close to catching up or attempting to direct him, the griffin twisted mid-air and shot higher, vanishing into the sunlit haze, his sheer black feathers the only thing betraying his presence. For a dragon, that would be easy to catch him but for a hawk, there was no way.
Ren exhaled a long breath of relief. Beside her, Gloria clapped her hands and cheered for Ogain.
Ren glanced at the stern girl standing to her left. Nudging her gently, she offered a warm smile. "Don’t be like that! Look at him, Ogain has a great tutor. Calisa’s the best at the military academy, and still, my griffin’s flying circles around him."
But her words did little to shift Arkilla’s mood. Her gaze was fixed on Org, who stood at a distance, silent and withdrawn.
"You did it because of him," Arkilla muttered, her voice laced with resentment. Not toward Ren but toward herself.
Ren simply shrugged. "I don’t care about him. All I care about is your life."
Gloria slipped her arm around Arkilla’s shoulders. "Sister, this is for the best. She knows what she’s doing. Just think, if someone hurt her, you’d feel the pain too, and you wouldn’t be able to fight with all your strength to protect her. Try to see it that way."
Ren tilted her head, silently agreeing with Gloria’s words.
"Fine," Arkilla finally said, a faint smile tugging at the corner of her lips. She might no longer be bound by blood, but her loyalty to Reneira remain unshaken, she would still give her life for her.
Above them, Ogain soared higher, then dropped into a smooth, daring dive, skillfully evading Calisa’s swift attack.
’Ogain, I’ve seen enough. Come here,’ she linked to him.
