Kai snapped out of his trance the moment Shadow howled in his head with a piercing cry, followed by a thunderous wave of desire, hunger, and thirst that ravaged his blood. His skin prickled with urgency, compelling him to ask before acting to comfort her. "Wife!" His deep voice rumbled from his chest.
Ren clenched his clothes between her fingers as she felt the tremor in his chest. His heartbeat had taken off in a race, and all she could do was revel in the sound of it. She had never felt such heat coursing through her body.
He parted from the embrace and cupped her face between his large, callused hands, he’d hammered so much iron lately. Ren grabbed his hands and pressed kisses into his palms, melting his heart into burning lava.
"Reneira, what happened? Did that bastard hurt you?" he asked, overwhelmed. Was she crying because of him? Gods, no! He had warned her, he couldn’t bear the sight of her tears.
She shook her head. "Many things happened... including that I want you to take me... Tonight."
Kai jolted. Only the heavens knew how long he had waited for her to be ready for this moment, how long he’d longed to hear those words spill from her sweet lips. To finally unleash his love for her to its deepest length, to pour that ravenous spiral of desire into her. To show her that he truly loved her and that it had nothing to do with who she was or what she was. His heart ached only for her, belonged to her.
"If you say it again, I might actually believe this is real!"
Ren gripped his wrists. "This is real. I’m all yours to take. From the very beginning, I was only yours, and I’ll be yours until eternity."
