As they moved forward, Ren’s gaze fell upon the image of a griffin, its majestic wings spread wide. Her eyes blazed with admiration. "Griffins are so loyal and sacred. I wish I had one." She glanced at Gloria, who, surprisingly, did not look petrified this time.
"Yes, this one is different, although I don’t know much about it. It looks like eagles and I’m not afraid of them." Gloria murmured, her voice laced with awe. "Dragon fire can destroy everything in its path."
"But for a noble cause, it can save lives." Ren’s words were softer, almost wistful, as she traced the lines of the creature’s feathers.
She trailed off the reading until her fingers stopped on the significant page, eventually, she reached the Fae family tree. Her breath caught in her throat. She scanned the list of Al-Gathiran descendants, but her husband’s name was nowhere to be found.
"They’re all so ancient, very old, even Agara," Gloria commented as if overwhelmed by the sheer weight of time.
Ren’s brow furrowed. "There’s no mention of Prince Kaisun; or his mother. I don’t even know how old he is."
Before Gloria could respond, a voice emerged from the shadows, firm yet tinged with an undercurrent of novelty. "Ten hundred and thirty-nine years, and you could have simply asked me." Kaisun stepped into view, his presence like a storm, dark and unrelenting. Why was he always standing somewhere far from light?
