Chapter 1475: You Don’t Need to Understand This
Just as Thomas Fisher’s words fell, Anthony immediately retorted, "My sister hasn’t married you yet, she’s not your wife now."
Hmph! Shameless!
He snorted in his heart at a certain man he was dissatisfied with.
"Your sister has already agreed to my proposal, we’ll soon..."
"You said she’s only agreed to your proposal, my sister hasn’t officially married you yet, so calling her your wife now is too early."
Before Thomas Fisher could finish speaking, Anthony rudely interrupted him.
This sissy! Does he want a beating?
Thomas Fisher was so angry he was about to curse, and Alice Turner was sitting right beside him. She felt his anger and was worried he’d lose control and actually hit Anthony, so she quickly spoke: "Charlotte! I’m sorry, you’ve been here for so long, I actually forgot to pour you some water."
Without waiting for a response, she looked up at Grace Young who stood nearby, "Grace! Pour Charlotte a glass of water."
Taking advantage of the moment’s distraction, Alice Turner secretly nudged Thomas Fisher’s leg, silently trying to calm him down before he exploded.
"I’m not thirsty, no need for trouble." Charlotte Shaw raised her hand to stop Grace Young from pouring her water; she wasn’t there for a drink.
"It’s no trouble."
The atmosphere in the room was a bit tense, and Grace Young felt it too. After agreeing, she went over to pour Charlotte Shaw some water.
Alice Turner wanted to use this distraction to ease the somewhat discordant atmosphere; Charlotte Shaw, Grace Young, and Thomas Fisher cooperated with her intention. However, Anthony seemed completely oblivious to her good intentions.
"Charlotte! You can go back and tell your ex-husband that our company has decided to work with him." Anthony meant working with him personally, not with Shaw Group; he said it deliberately.
He did this partly to rile Thomas Fisher, and partly to get Thomas Fisher to express his feelings—he was determined to always support Benjamin Shaw.
Anthony’s sudden decision surprised Alice Turner and Grace Young; they looked at him simultaneously, but their expressions were not quite the same.
Alice Turner was surprised, yet not puzzled; she saw provocation flash briefly in his eyes.
In addition to surprise, Grace Young was also a bit angry. She had been consistently supportive of collaborating with Thomas Fisher’s company without any particular reason—she simply wished to work with Thomas Fisher.
Charlotte Shaw didn’t really know what Anthony was talking about, though she knew Anthony was purposely provoking Thomas Fisher.
"Business matters should be discussed directly with him; I’m not well-versed in this." Charlotte Shaw was neither being modest nor evasive. After graduating from college, her parents arranged for her to get married, and she had never worked a day in her life—she was an outright full-time housewife.
An uninformed Anthony, hearing Charlotte Shaw’s response, self-righteously thought she was purposely evading. As for why she was evading, he confidently believed Thomas Fisher was to blame.
"You don’t need to understand this, just pass my message to your ex-husband." As Anthony said this, he glanced challengingly at Thomas Fisher, and after a quick glance, he refocused his attention on Charlotte Shaw.
Charlotte Shaw was in a difficult position—she looked at Alice Turner, then at Thomas Fisher—and just as she was unsure of how to proceed, Thomas Fisher suddenly spoke: "Charlotte! You should do as Mr. Anthony says."
