"Jacob Taylor? Isn’t his name Anthony?"
From Alice Turner’s introduction, Charlotte Shaw noticed something different. She looked at Alice Turner with a puzzled expression, hoping for some explanation.
Alice Turner gestured toward the sofa not far away, suggesting that Charlotte Shaw should sit down, "Sister! Let’s sit down and chat."
After Charlotte Shaw sat down with her, Alice Turner finally clarified, "One is his Chinese name, and the other is his Derry Kingdom name."
She didn’t specifically mention which was the Chinese name and which was the Derry Kingdom name, believing the other would understand without asking.
"Oh!" Charlotte Shaw responded lightly. So this young man is the boss’s son. Earlier, she thought he was Alice Turner’s new young boyfriend.
She withdrew her gaze from Anthony and turned to Alice Turner beside her, "When did you come back? Where have you been these years? Why haven’t you contacted your family? Have you been well these past years?"
Charlotte Shaw asked several questions in a row, each one she wanted to know. She also wanted to inquire on behalf of her brother, Benjamin Shaw.
Her troubles she couldn’t afford to let discourage her.
These questions from Charlotte Shaw were not new to Alice Turner. Ever since she returned, she has been answering similar questions. She answers every time knowing this means they care about her.
This time was no exception for Alice Turner. She patiently answered these questions, appearing neither impatient nor annoyed.
"You’ve been staying in the Derry Kingdom all these years." No wonder her incorrigible brother couldn’t find her—he was searching in the wrong direction.
Recalling the incidents over the years when Benjamin Shaw was looking for Alice Turner, Charlotte Shaw sighed deeply in her heart. But now, thankfully, Alice Turner is back, and she will do her utmost to help her brother win back his love.
Alice Turner nodded, "Yes."
She just murmured yes and offered no further explanation.
"Are you planning to leave again this time?" Charlotte Shaw asked the question that concerned her the most and worried her the most. As long as Alice was around, she had a chance, but if she left, who could she turn to?
Alice Turner shook her head. Charlotte Shaw thought she was going to say she wouldn’t leave, but before she had a chance to feel happy, Alice said, "I can’t be sure right now."
Her current boss not only recognized her talents but had also saved her life. Although she had saved the boss’s son once, she didn’t want to consider this as canceling out the favor. She couldn’t bring herself to do such a thing.
"What do you mean you can’t be sure? Are you saying there’s a chance you’ll leave?" Hearing these words from Alice Turner, images of Benjamin Shaw drunkenly crying his heart out last night flashed in Charlotte Shaw’s mind.
Is she using this as a reason to reject her brother? Or is she genuinely unsure about her future?
Alice Turner just smiled faintly, not directly answering Charlotte Shaw’s question. She really couldn’t answer that question easily; she herself had not made a decision yet.
"Alice! You can’t leave again. What happens to Benjamin if you leave? He’s nearly lost his mind these years searching for you. Cough..." Charlotte Shaw was so emotionally charged that she choked on her own words. She coughed to recover quickly, and once she did, she hurriedly continued, "Last night, he got drunk and cried his heart out at home. It nearly broke my heart."
