Davey could clearly feel the despair and the fear that Reina must have experienced not being able to control her own body.
He gently patted her trembling shoulders as she rested in his arms. He tried to sense the same corrupted power that was both inside him and within her.
His divine power and vitality rapidly coursing through her body gradually began improving her condition. In the course of doing so, he swept over the latent power inside her without leaving anything behind.
Her condition was just like pouring water into a bottomless jar.
Her power, once in a severe state of corruption, had regained some of its original hue. However, if Davey let himself become even slightly twisted again, or if her mental fortitude weakened, it wouldn’t be surprising for the corruption to surge back up and take over.
Even after depleting so much of it within her, the fact that it kept coming back made it hard to enact an effective solution instead of just stop-gap measures.
“Are you feeling any better now?” Davey asked carefully once he noticed her trembling had calmed.
With her head still buried, she responded in a tearful voice, “I’m sorry...”
Her quiet words were packed with emotion.
“Hmm.” Davey opened his Pocket Plane, pulled out a baseball cap, and placed it gently on her head with a downward tilt. He figured she probably didn’t want to show her tear-streaked face, and such an accessory was the only way he could think of to cover it for her without drawing further attention.
Reina flinched slightly at his gesture, but didn’t resist further.
Afterward, Davey silently lifted her onto his back.
