Chapter 725 Don’t Challenge Our Luo Family’s Bottom Line
Luo Qiao nodded: "Then tell me what exactly happened yesterday?"
Luo Jialin said: "These days, my two sisters-in-law already had issues with me, but since they knew the food were all subsidies from my family, they held back their dissatisfaction and did not voice it out.
A few days ago, my mother-in-law got a piece of cotton cloth and told me we could use it to make clothes for the two babies in my belly. Somehow, my sisters-in-law overheard.
They were anything but happy. They claimed all children wore hand-me-downs from their older siblings, and it would be better to make clothes for the other grandchildren, as we could inherit them once they outgrew it.
If they made clothes for my unborn babies now, they argued it would be wasteful and a good piece of cloth would go to waste for no reason. This caused several days of tension at home.
So, I took the initiative to tell my mother-in-law that we didn’t need the cloth, and it should be used for my nieces and nephews instead. I thought since Grandma had given me some scraps, I could patch them together to make a few outfits, so it didn’t really matter if we had that cloth or not.
But, to my surprise, after I gave up the cloth, my sisters-in-law started to fight over it, each trying to get it for their own son. Yet, that piece of cloth, enough to make clothes for one child, wasn’t even sufficient for two.
The two had already had a quarrel that morning, and when they returned from work in the afternoon, they continued fighting. When I got back, they were arguing fiercely, and no one had prepared dinner. I tried to mediate to no avail and went to the kitchen to start cooking.
When the rest of the family came home, they tried to intervene, but my sisters-in-law, perhaps with much pent-up anger, grew even more agitated, escalating to physical violence.
Thinking it’d be shameful for the neighbors to witness this, I announced dinner was ready as soon as it was done, hoping the prospect of eating might make them stop fighting.
Instead, they turned towards me and charged in my direction. Before I could dodge, I got caught in the crossfire."
