Luo Qiao thought about all the things she had in her space, and if she was any later, her master and his wife would probably have finished their shopping. After getting off the bus, she found a safe place to go into her space and prepared beef, lamb, wild boar, chicken, and two rabbits.
She also packed some seafood and fruits. In the end, she included some cured fish and meats she had made before, filling up two woven bags. She only took a small amount of fresh vegetables, enough for a day or two, figuring she would make another trip closer to the New Year, fearing they wouldn’t keep if she took them too early.
After leaving her space, she checked for any flaws and then moved the items to the roadside. Not far from there was a freight yard, and she thought about waiting for a tricycle to help her with the delivery. But after a long wait, none came.
"If it really doesn’t work out, I’ll just have to move them slowly," Luo Qiao thought. It wasn’t that far, anyway. Just as she had this thought, she heard someone call out, "Qiaoqiao, is that you?"
Turning around, she saw her master and his wife approaching.
Upon seeing them, Luo Qiao rushed over, "Auntie, it’s so great to run into you both."
Feng Shumin asked, "When did you get back?"
Luo Qiao sheepishly replied, "It’s been a few days. I thought you hadn’t started your holiday yet, so I didn’t come over."
She turned and pointed to the two woven bags on the roadside, "Jiancheng, I was just worrying about how to get these bags back home, you see?"
Looking at the two hefty bags, Yang Jiancheng worried the neighbors might once again accuse his apprentice of being wasteful. Picking up a bag, he said, "You two wait here, I’ll be right back."
Luo Qiao laughed, "Master must be worried about people gossiping again. Auntie, it’s quite cold today, and there aren’t many people around. Let’s take these back together, so we don’t freeze out here."
