Chapter 429: Do You Believe Me?
Thinking of her master and his wife, and how strained their relationship with their three children was right now, she hoped that in a few years, they would reconcile. If they didn’t, she resolved to care for them in their old age. After all, she would take good care of them in the future.
They had imparted their lifetime of knowledge to the original owner, a kindness she knew she must never forget. This reminded her that her master had mentioned a traditional Chinese medicine qualification exam coming up in May; she could simply go and take it then.
Her master had thought to arrange a special exam just for her, but Luo Qiao had refused. She didn’t want her master to owe someone a favor because of her and to spare herself from idle gossip.

She made lots of five-spice jerky, meat sauce, and spicy sauce. She also brought some cured meat and fish she had made before, as well as pickled spicy cabbage and radishes. She divided them into two parts, one for her master’s family and one for her grandparents.
Thinking that Lu Yichen was also returning home, she prepared a portion for him as well, a small token of her sentiments.
That evening, Lu Yichen came back and said, "Stone won’t be coming back for dinner tonight; I ran into him earlier. His classmate’s grandfather is celebrating his birthday and he was dragged along to the celebration."
