Luo Qiao said with a smile, "Your family sure is complicated."
Luo Qiao figured no wonder he didn’t want to go home for the New Year, fearing that home was not as comfortable as it seemed outside. She even imagined a melodramatic plot where he was abused by a stepmother, complete with the addition of a stepfather.
Seeing Luo Qiao’s expression, Lu Yichen knew this girl’s thoughts had gone off-track and had no idea what she had conjured up in her mind. He reached out and flicked her on the forehead, "What are you thinking? My stepmother is actually quite decent compared to others."
Then Luo Qiao imagined another scenario, a stepmother who was a wolf in sheep’s clothing, kind on the outside but the opposite behind the scenes, and she looked at Lu Yichen sympathetically.
Lu Yichen chuckled, "Be careful not to let your imagination run wild, or you’ll have insomnia tonight."
Luo Qiao pouted, thinking to herself, "Really? As if you’re tough. Why else would you have run away from home? You can’t fool me."
Lu Yichen didn’t bother explaining further and just tidied up the garlic peels on the floor, "It’s late, better go to sleep. You have an exam tomorrow."
