Chapter 155: First in the City
Stone’s scabs had all fallen off his back, and he had been applying the Scar Soothing Gel that Luo Qiao had mixed for him for several days. Besides studying, he occasionally went out to play with the village children.
Stone was now wearing new clothes made by Luo Qiao, and since he had told the village kids he would be going to school after this summer vacation, some of them were willing to play with him.
Sometimes Luo Qiao would give him some dried apricots she had prepared earlier to share with his playmates, so these days Stone had been getting along well with the children in the village.
While playing outside that day, they were asked for directions to Luo Qiao’s house by two people who had entered the village. They said they were teachers from the commune’s middle school and had come to deliver Luo Qiao’s report card.
Stone happily led the two visitors to Luo Qiao’s house. Today was a day off from work in the team, and Luo Qiao was sun-drying medicinal herbs collected from the mountain when she saw Stone bringing Principal Qin and Teacher Ning to her home.
Putting down the herbs, Luo Qiao said, "Hello, Principal Qin, Teacher Ning. Have the results come out?"
Principal Qin smiled and said, "Yes, Luo Qiao, congratulations, you scored first in the entire county and also first in the whole city. Our school is really going to shine because of you."
Luo Qiao wasn’t surprised, as she wanted to attend high school in the city, and without a significant score, she couldn’t freely choose.
Luo Qiao invited Principal Qin and Teacher Ning to sit down in the yard and went to the back to pick a watermelon, slicing it open for them to quench their thirst.
Principal Qin’s face bloomed into a smile, "This time you’ve brought honor to both the school and the county. The school, the county government, the county education bureau, and even the city will have rewards for you, but they might be a bit delayed.
I and your Teacher Ning were so excited when we heard the news that we came over immediately, so we’ve just brought the report card."
