Chapter 126 Jealousy
Seeing that a cart full of items had been brought to Luo Qiao’s house, everyone was green with envy and anxious to know exactly what was on the cart.
Luo Qiao opened the door, letting them in, and said, "I don’t have any cups, so I won’t pour you water, but the cucumbers I’ve grown are quite good. I’ll wash a few for you to taste."
The party secretary and the brigade leader helped carry the stuff into the kitchen, and just as Luo Qiao had finished washing the cucumbers, she filled a basin with water and let everyone wash their hands before handing out a cucumber to each person.
The party secretary and the brigade leader had other matters to attend to, so they left the cart behind and took their leave, telling Luo Qiao that she could just return the cart to the brigade headquarters after using it.
Luo Qiao thanked them and saw them out the door before coming back.
She said, "Please have a seat in the courtyard for a while, I’ll go prepare some things for you."
First, she went to the backyard where she used her Special Ability to ripen some of the melons she had grown. She picked a dozen or so, and also harvested a good amount of various vegetables, plus some dried vegetables and mushrooms she had prepared before. From her space, she took out three pounds of dried red dates.
She also wrapped two packages of her homemade pickled Chinese cabbage and crispy cucumbers in paper from the space. These items didn’t look impressive, but anyone who knew their stuff would realize they were no ordinary goods.
