Chapter 1821: Metal Detection 3
The ground was vast, still covered with snow and ice, yet it didn’t hinder the work of the Metal Detector at all.
They scanned a large area without hearing any voice prompt. Feng Qingxue and Lu Jiang switched locations, and shortly after scanning, they heard a prompt indicating metal underground.
Pinpointing the target, Feng Qingxue eagerly asked Lu Jiang to dig it up.
Beneath the snow and ice, the frozen ground was tough. Lu Jiang spat on his palms, gripped the spade tightly, and started digging. After about ten minutes, he unearthed a heap of rusty iron cannonballs, mocking their whimsical quest for gold and silver jewelry.
Feng Qingxue wasn’t disappointed; she couldn’t help but laugh and said, "Bury it back quickly, let’s continue detecting."
Lu Jiang reluctantly said, "Bury it for what? It’s a waste of effort."
Despite his words, he voluntarily refilled the hole with the earth they had dug out, to prevent any passerby from falling in unawares.
Feng Qingxue pointed to the southeast. From this direction, they only saw a vast expanse and a few scattered puddles. "A few miles south of the puddles, there was once a big landlord in the village. It’s said that the land of several surrounding villages belonged to him. He used to live in a big mansion, and his family had houses in Wucheng, even in the county seat. The ones that weren’t demolished are now residences for officials, but his entire family perished. We could wander around nearby."
The vast majority of wealthy families would leave something hidden for themselves, especially landlords who liked to stash gold and silver underground or inside walls; some even sank them in wells, lakes, or rivers.
Since the entire household was gone, the hidden items were now ownerless, so Feng Qingxue came here.
During her years working in the Wucheng military unit, she had led teams to the countryside for health education, providing basic medical checkups to villagers, and thus she knew the local terrain and habitation areas well.
There were not only Han people here; Manchu and Mongolian people also resided nearby.
