Each of the three households built three brick-and-tile rooms and two mud-brick rooms on the east and west sides, spending almost the same amount, with each family’s expenses not exceeding four hundred yuan.
This amount was their entire savings.
After constructing his new house, Wang Dachun had some money left to repay the brigade, while his two brothers each owed thirty to fifty yuan in wages. Fortunately, the debt was for labor costs, and they were willing to wait until the year-end profit distribution to settle it.
Wang Zhenguo was still around, and unless there was a pressing need for money, nobody would come to demand payment.
