Feng Qingxue spread out her hands, "There’s no use telling me about this; I don’t have ’fiery eyes of truth’ that would allow me to diagnose Comrade Commander Su’s condition without taking his pulse."
"I think you’re very capable, you should have a method," Bai Xue said after a moment of silence.
"There’s no way!" Feng Qingxue bluntly refused, remembering that although Su Junlin and Bai Xue had been married for over forty years, they had not had a child with both their bloodlines—a probable large-scale retribution that Bai Xue received for her past actions.
Not only did Bai Xue not have children, but Commander Bai also went through his entire life childless.
From what Feng Qingxue knew of Commander Bai, he likely didn’t wish to have a child to spare them from the strange looks of others.
As for Bai Xue, it was probably an issue with Su Junlin.
Being so old and a veteran of many battles, his body naturally retained various chronic conditions from old injuries; every time the weather turned cold, he would visit the hospital several times, supposedly from war injuries that never fully healed.
Upon hearing Feng Qingxue’s reply, Bai Xue was greatly disappointed.
"Really, there’s no way?" she asked, still somewhat hopeful.
Feng Qingxue tilted her head and thought, then said, "It amounts to being powerless, I’m afraid."
"What do you mean by ’it amounts to?’ Don’t beat around the bush," Bai Xue said, a sliver of hope flashing in her eyes.
