Chapter 1036: Creating Something from Nothing 5
Under Aunt Feng’s astonished gaze, Lu Jiang struck a match and, as he was about to light a corner of the Mandarin Duck Book, Feng Qingxue continued to chant in her heart, "Feng Qingxue, the ’bazi’ on it is yours, not mine. So today, following the advice of a wise man, I come to burn it—henceforth, no one will use your ’bazi’ again, and you will have no connection with my husband."
Suddenly, the Mandarin Duck Book turned to ashes and scattered with the wind.
Aunt Feng’s eyes widened in shock because she saw that only a corner of the Mandarin Duck Book had caught fire; it hadn’t fully ignited. Even if the fire was burning it, it couldn’t possibly have turned the book into ashes in such an instant, leaving no trace behind!
Both Lu Jiang and Feng Qingxue witnessed this scene, with the latter thinking to herself, "Feng Qingxue, is that you? Is it really you?"
The surroundings were silent, with only a gentle breeze rustling through the grass and trees.
Lu Jiang quickly said to Aunt Feng, "It’s hot weather, plus it’s a large red paper, so it burned quickly."
"What were you burning?" Aunt Feng asked. She hadn’t seen the writing on the red paper and didn’t know it was the Mandarin Duck Book.
Feng Qingxue then stood up and, pulling Lu Jiang up with her, explained, "It was just a piece of red paper. Since I hadn’t paid respects to my parents since getting married, and now the times don’t allow tomb-sweeping, and we couldn’t buy joss paper, we specifically found a piece of red paper to use as a substitute."
Aunt Feng listened and did not suspect anything.
