Chapter 285 - 0285 Borrow Clothes Borrow Shoes 1_1
As soon as he saw Feng Qingxue, Feng’s Second Uncle immediately explained his reason for visiting her.
They came to deliver the money and the crops harvested from their own land to Feng Qingxue.
There were regulations regarding rations; as the Feng Qingxue sisters’ residence had been transferred to the Wanglou Brigade and had already received rations there, the Caohu Brigade no longer allocated food to them, hence all their work points were converted into cash.
The Caohu Brigade’s work value was only twenty cents each, and Feng Qingxue’s 1390 work points equaled only 27.8 yuan, while Feng Qingyun didn’t have any work points.
As for the money owed to Feng Qingxue, only Feng Shuanzhu and Feng Teng knew about it and had temporarily not informed Second Uncle Feng to pass it on.
They did, however, collect a lot of crops from their private plot, pumpkins, winter melons, cabbages, radishes, potatoes ... and even a bit of sweet potatoes planted when everyone else was turning a blind eye. Anything that should be harvested this season, including dried vegetables previously made, were all delivered by Second Uncle Feng and his sons. The two plots of private land were later taken back by the production team.
"The sweet potatoes and cabbages you stored in the cellar should be dug up later; it’s a pity that your two sisters-in-law always seem to have things to complain about. Your second sister-in-law is really rushing us to clear out your land next to hers."
When he reached this point, Second Uncle added: "The house you were living in has now been transferred to your second brother and his wife in exchange for grain."
Back in the day, Feng Qingxue and Feng Qingyun were penniless and with the community’s approval, the house was given to the two sisters to live in for free. Feng Qingyu and Li Guohong didn’t receive the same kindness.
Feng Qingxue gave a casual nod; she’s married to Lu Jiang now, so the old homestead has nothing to do with her anymore.
Second Uncle Feng continued: "I gave the money to your father-in-law, and the vegetables are piled up in your house’s west wing. You can organize them when you get home."
