Chapter 416: The little guy’s birthday
Qiao Chen’s eyebrows furrowed deeply, and his eyes narrowed into a sharp gaze, revealing the intensity of his emotions. He clenched his fists, trying to contain his anger while struggling to find the right words to express his outrage.
With a tense voice, he shouted, "This is unacceptable! How can she treat Qiao Qing like this? And Sun Qinglian’s actions are deplorable!"
His tone was firm, and the anger in his voice was palpable. Qiao Chen paced back and forth, unable to stay still as he grappled with his emotions.
"Qiao Qing is my sister, and she deserves respect and love from our family, not this mistreatment," he exclaimed, his voice growing louder with each word.
"The nerve of Sun Qinglian to do such things to my sister, I’ll not let her be," Qiao Chen declared clenching his jaw tightly.
Xia Ling told Qiao Chen to calm down, "Don’t worry, Yuze has already taken care of Sun Qinglian. She won’t dare to hurt our Qiao Qing anymore."
Meanwhile, Father Qiao experienced a whirlwind of emotions. Indignation coursed through him as he heard about the mistreatment and hurtful behavior of Old Madam Xia towards Qiao Qing. His indignation was mixed with guilt as he reflected on whether he could have done more to shield Qiao Qing from her grandmother’s harsh judgments. He wondered if he should have intervened earlier to protect her from such mistreatment.
"I should have done something sooner," Father Qiao murmured, a hint of regret in his voice, "I should have stood up to my mother-in-law and protected Qiao Qing from this."
Despite his feelings of guilt, Father Qiao’s heart swelled with pride for his wife, Xia Ling, who stood up for Qiao Qing and defended her against Old Madam Xia’s actions. He looked at Xia Ling with admiration and gratitude.
"You did the right thing, Xia Ling," he said, his voice filled with appreciation, "I’m proud of you for standing up to your mother for our daughter."
He placed a reassuring hand on Xia Ling’s shoulder, offering his support and validation for her actions. He knew it was very difficult for any daughter to cut ties with her mother but Xia Ling did it for their family. Father Qiao was truly proud of his wife.
