Chapter 9: What’s wrong with the soup?
Lu Yaran was observing Qin Yan when she saw her stop, "What happened Yan Yan? Are you not feeling well?"
"Yes, I feel a little discomfort. Can I bring the soup in my room?" Qin Yan asked cautiously.
Lu Yaran was angry at Qin Yan throwing a tantrum but she didn’t show her unhappiness in front of Qin Yicheng, "Sure, but you have to finish the whole soup. Don’t neglect your breakfast, it will not be good for your health," she said with concern.
"Yes mom, I’ll not waste your hard work by leaving the soup," Qin Yan smiled sarcastically at Lu Yaran.
Lu Yaran felt something wrong with Qin Yan’s expression but she could not point out what was wrong. So she let her go with a smile.
Qin Yan returned to her room. She looked at the soup coldly. In the dining room, she had already known that something was wrong with the soup. Now she smelled it again and her suspicions grew. But she could not determine what was wrong by herself. Although she knew about most of the chinese herbs, but she was not sure how many things were added to the soup. So, she decided to take a lab test for the soup.
She took a small empty container, poured the soup into it and enclosed it properly. The rest of the soup was flushed in the toilet. She put the enclosed bottle in her handbag and strode out of the room.
As she got to the living room, she saw everyone chatting and laughing. Qin Yicheng noticed her and asked, "Yan Yan, are you going out?"
"Yes dad, as I mentioned earlier, I need to go out. I will return in 2 hours max," she said gently.
"Weren’t you unwell a while ago? Now you’re going out? What is the matter with you? Were you making excuses because you didn’t want to have breakfast? Yan Yan, you have really disappointed mom," Lu Yaran said sadly.
"Mom, why is your imagination going wild? I agree that I wasn’t feeling well earlier, but after having the soup, I felt very energetic. It is all thanks to your love that I feel good now. So, I decided to carry on with my day. Why are you thinking so much!" Qin Yan said with a mocking smile in her eyes.
Lu Yaran looked sullenly at Qin Yan. ’Why is this girl talking back to me! How dare she! Till yesterday, she didn’t even have the courage to look into my eyes. What has changed in such a short time!’
