Chapter 59: The Grand Banquet
A spark of hope returned to the princess’s eyes, and she nodded subtly.
Meanwhile, Lora attempted to negotiate with Lady Isolde. "Perhaps we could keep some of the princess’s chosen accessories?" she asked, gesturing to the few quirky pieces they’d originally chosen to accentuate the princess’s unique look.
Lady Isolde’s gaze moved coldly over Lora. "I’m afraid not. Everything has been selected with utmost care. The necklace, tiara, and every jewel have been chosen to reflect the highest standards."
Lora exchanged a quick look with Cassian, shrugging in resignation. They would have to improvise with the situation as best as they could.
With little choice, the princess let Isolde’s attendants take over, undoing her eclectic hairstyle and arranging her hair in elegant waves pinned with silver hairpins.
The gown fit her perfectly, shimmering as it caught the light, and the jewels gleamed with an aura of undeniable sophistication. Cassian could tell that the effect would be stunning—and unfortunately, exactly what the neighboring prince would find appealing.
As the attendants finished, the princess sighed heavily, her displeasure barely hidden beneath her outward poise.
She turned to Cassian, eyes filled with determination. "If the plan’s in shambles, I’ll just have to give him a taste of his own medicine."
Cassian leaned close and murmured with a soft smile, "Give him a taste of the true you, Your Highness. He may run faster than we thought."
