Chapter 57: Outcast in the demon world

Lyra screeched at Cassian. She felt odd and uncomfortable when he asked her this question. If it were in the past, he would have recognized her in an instant, even if she changed her appearance countless times.
But now everything has changed; he is no longer the same. He is now Cassian, and she understands this very well.
She would also try to be different from her past self, and then both of them would leave a quiet, peaceful life in the human world. Her eyes teared up as she thought of the changes in Cassian, but her expression brightened at the thought that they could now live far away from the demon world.
Lyra walked towards Cassian and nudged her face into his hands, slightly rubbing her furry body.
Cassian felt amused at the little kitten’s reaction. He looked at the ever-changing expressions on her face—first angry, then teary, then bright. Her face really switched between moods too fast.
She was really a bundle of joy. Cassian cradled her small frame in his hand and smiled deeply. He did not know whose cat she was or how she got here, but her presence was oddly comforting to him, and he found himself forgetting about the previous night’s dream.
"Hey, little kitten!! What’s your name?" Cassian asked the kitten while hoisting her up in his arms and looking into her eyes.
"Humph! You don’t even remember my name!" Lyra grumbled at Cassian. But in his eyes, it looked like a cute kitten showing her little claws.
