Chapter 599 - 41: Wang Sisters - Yin Blade Chooses Its Master
Two days had passed since Zhang Yan assisted Zhao Houzhou and others in refining their Dharma Treasures, when a flying boat appeared outside the Zhao You Heavenly Pond, carrying dozens of men and women aboard.
Yang Fanghe stood at the front clutching his staff. He turned his head to look at the twin sisters behind him, coughing a few times before speaking: "When in Master Zhang’s presence, you must not act recklessly, especially Miss Wang..."
His gaze shifted briefly. The two girls were identical in appearance, making it impossible for him to distinguish the elder from the younger. However, he knew full well that the younger Miss Wang was the most unruly. If he could have found a more suitable candidate, he would never have involved these two sisters.
Later events proved that his concerns were not unfounded. When the two sisters were introduced, word soon reached him that they had offended Zhang Yan’s disciple, Tian Kun. He was almost paralyzed with fear but was fortunate enough that the Wang Family Patriarch intervened with some measures to smooth things over.
Now, as the sisters were on the verge of entering Zhang Yan’s sect, Yang Fanghe was restless, fearing some mishap might implicate him. Thus, he could not help but repeatedly remind them with nagging warnings.
The charming young girl standing to his right pouted and said, "Alright, alright! Master Yang, you’ve repeated this over a hundred times now. Cai Ting’s ears are getting callused!"
The other girl bowed to Yang Fanghe and softly replied, "Master Yang, Fourth Sister is already betrothed to Brother Tian. Under these circumstances, I doubt Master Zhang would mind what happened that day."
"Yes, that’s right, that’s right," Yang Fanghe nodded repeatedly, his heart relaxing slightly. Since the two families were now connected through marriage, whatever mischief Miss Wang caused would remain an internal matter within the sect. Were it not for this arrangement, he absolutely would not push for their acceptance into Zhang Yan’s tutelage, for he could not bear such shocks.
However, upon hearing this, the younger Miss Wang’s face reddened to the tips of her ears. She secretly glanced at Tian Kun, standing at a distance. The moment he sensed her gaze and looked back, she quickly averted her eyes.
Tian Kun, having grown up in the Water Mansion, had never interacted with people his age before. He did not fully understand the nature of betrothal but had a vague notion of it. Since this was arranged by his mother, he did not object. His attitude toward Miss Wang remained unaltered by the engagement, behaving as he always did without the slightest awkwardness.
The flying boat ascended toward the Heavenly Pool, and the Wang sisters were captivated by the surrounding wonders, feeling reinvigorated and joyful. Just then, a flash of light streaked toward them from the front. The group looked out and saw a colorful-clothed woman standing on a flower basket, drifting toward them like an ethereal being.
Her brows held the faint charm of distant ink, her eyes as deep as autumn ripples, exuding a captivating allure. Standing poised, she announced, "I am Shang Shang, a mere maid in service of the Master, here to welcome Master Yang, Tian Dalang, and the two young maidens."
Yang Fanghe hastily replied, "I wouldn’t dare. Thank you, Miss Shang, for your trouble."
He had encountered Shang Shang on his previous visit and knew that despite being a Demon Cultivator, she was one of the two managers of Zhao You Heavenly Pond. Her cultivation surpassed his, so he dared not be disrespectful.
Tian Kun did not step forward but greeted from afar.
The Wang sisters, however, dared not show any slack. Both performed the Wan Fu salute in unison, with the younger sister spinning her expressive eyes and addressing her warmly, "I am Wang Cai Ting, greetings to Aunt Shang."
Shang Shang glanced at Wang Cai Ting, then looked at Tian Kun. Her demeanor grew solemn as she replied, "Please don’t call me Aunt Wang; I’m just a mere maid."
Without further elaboration, she raised her delicate hand, causing the token in her palm to glow brightly and activate the Array Gate over the Heavenly Pond Water. She lifted her hem gracefully and stepped forward, then turned her head saying, "Everyone, please follow me."
Having delivered the Wang sisters to this point, Yang Fanghe had fulfilled his responsibilities. His tension eased, but recalling the spine-chilling awe he had felt upon meeting Zhang Yan previously, he had no desire to proceed further. After instructing the sisters one last time, he bid them farewell and departed.
The two sisters followed Shang Shang toward the Cave Mansion. The scenery within the Heavenly Pool was fantastical and magnificent, enthralling them as they walked. Before long, they noticed the flying boat beneath them tremble lightly and then come to a halt. Shang Shang announced, "Tian Dalang and the two young maidens, please follow me to meet the Master."
Shang Shang led the trio into the inner hall. Tian Kun lifted his gaze and saw his mentor seated calmly on a couch, with Liu Yan Yi dressed in pure white standing beside him. He hurried forward and knelt, saying, "Disciple Tian Kun greets his Master."
The Wang sisters felt uneasy upon entering. Their hearts involuntarily fluttered, and they dared not gaze around. They stepped forward together, obediently knelt, and bowed their heads. However, since their relationship with Zhang Yan as disciples was not yet established, they refrained from calling him "Master" aloud and instead addressed him as "Respected Master" for the time being.
