An older warrior stepped forward, calm compared to the others. He gave the Lycan king a short bow as the king joined the group in the clearing.
"Your Majesty, the witches are no longer where we last saw them. They’ve completely vanished."
Ethan walked up behind him, his brows furrowed with concern. "We should send another search party, maybe they moved... or were attacked."
"They weren’t attacked," I muttered bitterly. "They took what should’ve never been given to them. Now, they’ll unleash hell because of it."
The Lycan king tried to stay calm. "Maybe they relocated to begin restoring their land."
There was hope in his voice, even if it was clearly forced.
My younger self stepped forward, joining the circle of warriors. "Or maybe they’ve already started tearing ours apart."
His voice sounded calm, but I could feel the tension in it. That doubt he’d kept quiet before was now finally showing.
"Damon," his father said with a heavy sigh, "you’re letting fear cloud your thinking. The witches wouldn’t risk breaking the treaty so soon."
