Chapter 41 Seconds From Being Marked
The rogue’s weight crushed against me, its hot breath reeking of a pungent smell. My stomach churned from the strong smell. My legs kicked weakly, but it growled menacingly at my face. Its glowing gold eyes hovered inches above mine, and the look in them made something inside me freeze completely.
They didn’t just want to kill. They wanted to make me theirs. A rogue mark... it was worse than death.
Its fangs drew closer to my neck. I could feel its saliva drip against my skin, mixing with the cold rain and sweat running down my jaw.
In that split second, something in me screamed to stop it. Pushing my fear away, I moved on instinct, thrusting my hand over my throat just as its teeth lunged forward.
A searing, brutal pain ripped through my arm, exploding through my nerves before slamming into my brain.
I screamed so loud I thought my voice would tear.
Its fangs sank deep, crunching through my skin and flesh. Blood poured out immediately, pooling against my neck and soaking my clothes.
I writhed beneath it, crying, my fingers clawed at the wet earth, the pain was so mind shattering, that my vision blurred.
Another rogue stepped out from the darkness, its eyes fixed on me, its tongue stuck out, panting like a wild dog ready to feast.
I could feel the blood draining from me, my strength disappearing with it. I knew I couldn’t fight them off. I couldn’t even shift. My wolf remained silent, like it was buried within me, unreachable.
And then, somewhere in the distance, the air seemed to charge with tension.
