Chapter 136: The Hungry Galacta! Phoenix Lollipop!
Upon hearing Hela’s refusal, Lorien finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Ah... but I’m really hungry..." Devourer Girl clutched her stomach, tugging on Hela’s hand. "I haven’t eaten anything for months..."
"No. I can just watch from the side. Just don’t eat it all, okay? Leave some for me?"
Lorien: —
It wasn’t just him.
Hela’s eyes widened at those words.
What the hell?
Are you that wild?
She glanced at Lorien. He shook his head immediately.
This was way too ridiculous. He felt embarrassed just hearing it.
Hela shook her head as well. She felt the same way.
Seeing both Lorien and Hela refuse, Devourer Girl slumped, looking completely drained.
She turned her gaze toward Lorien. Her watery, amethyst-like eyes shimmered with pitiful longing as she looked at him.
Lorien admitted she was cute. But he still shook his head firmly.
"No."
Some things could only be done once a line was crossed. Only then.
If both sides were willing, if neither refused, then no matter how extreme, anything was fine.
But Lorien wasn’t even close to that point yet. And before that line was crossed—some things were absolutely off-limits.
If he gave in on the very first day they met, then he really would be scum.
That was the difference.
A stud would take anyone, one after another. But a harem was different—it required love, mutual love. Not random flings without any foundation.
Two completely different things. Got it?
When Devourer Girl heard his firm rejection, tears welled up instantly.
He wasn’t her. He couldn’t understand what real hunger felt like.
Hunger was one of the most agonizing instincts. In famine, people ate anything—bark, dirt, rotten meat, even their own kind.
Hunger could drive anyone mad.
And for Galactus and Devourer Girl, it was even worse. Their hunger was true madness.
But Devourer Girl couldn’t do anything to Lorien. The instant she saw him, she knew—this man might even surpass her father.
She knew her father’s energy density. But Lorien’s was even greater.
So when he refused, she couldn’t force him. It was hopeless.
"...But..."
Lorien looked at her. Hunger would drive both Galactus and Devourer Girl insane, and the pain was unbearable.
He thought for a moment. Then gathered a small orb of Phoenix Rebirth energy in his palm.
"Here. Just to tide you over—"
"Awuu~!"
Before he could finish, Devourer Girl darted forward and swallowed the energy right off his finger!
"Ssshhh—"
She even sucked a few more times, hard.
Startled, Lorien yanked his hand back with a pop. He looked at the saliva on his finger.
"Sigh..."
Helpless, he let out a long breath. Then he walked over to Hela, grabbed her clothes, and wiped his finger clean.
"Huh? Hey!"
Hela froze for a second, then snatched her clothes back in a huff.
"This is my favorite outfit!"
"I bought it."
"You—"
"I’ll buy you more."
"...Fine. Wipe it."
When it came to Lorien, Hela was always easily handled, her principles crumbling almost instantly.
Handled.
Lorien finished wiping his hand with her clothes, then turned to Devourer Girl.
She was chewing happily, her little fists clenched tight and raised as if putting all her strength into savoring the taste.
"Is that really necessary..."
Lorien found it bizarre.
"Wouldn’t it be easier to just swallow?"
"So thick~~~" Devourer Girl shook her head quickly, her eyes wide as she explained, "It’s too delicious! Just swallowing it would be such a waste—I want to savor it longer!"
Lorien: ...
Poor kid. She really must have been starving.
Even Galactus had gone mad from hunger before. That gnawing, bone-deep hunger could drive one of the Five Abstract Entities insane.
So you can imagine just how absurd the physiques of Galactus and Devourer Girl truly were. Utterly absurd.
And that Phoenix Rebirth energy was just a fragment of Lorien’s power.
The Phoenix Force’s rebirth was an extra reserve of energy. When you were near death—or dead—it would trigger to restore you.
It wasn’t consumed permanently. It regenerated.
Like Anivia’s passive in League of Legends: as long as the cooldown was up, you could revive. If it wasn’t, then you were gone for real.
Even after Lorien reached the Multiversal-level, he still had cooldowns. But his energy was enough to trigger countless rebirths.
It was like having a hundred Phoenix passives at once. If that wasn’t enough, he could stack even more.
And yet Devourer Girl treated even this tiny fragment of energy as if it were a treasure, holding it in her mouth until it nearly dissolved.
It was hard to imagine how much restraint she’d shown before. Or how much hunger she’d endured.
Too tragic.
...
Just then, someone entered the Little Universe from outside.
Wanda walked in with a watering can, ready to water the flowers. But then she saw Devourer Girl.
"This is..."
"Um... an alien. No, strictly speaking, she’s not even human. She’s just converted her energy into a human form."
Lorien explained to Wanda.
"Do you remember the Five Abstract Entities I told you about earlier?"
Wanda nodded, then looked surprised.
"She’s not..."
"Yes, she’s one of the Five Abstract Entities—the daughter of the Devourer of Worlds, Galacta."
"The daughter of a god?"
Wanda set down the watering can upon hearing this. She walked over and looked at Galacta curiously.
"She looks just like a human."
"Her energy has been converted into human form, so she now looks exactly like a human," Lorien explained.
"But when she reverts to her true form, she turns back into pure energy."
"That’s amazing," Wanda said, genuinely surprised.
Meanwhile, when Devourer Girl saw her mistress arrive, she puffed her cheek with the Phoenix energy she was holding inside, looking as if she had a lollipop stuffed in her mouth.
She reached out to Wanda and said,
"Hello, my name is Galacta. Just treat me like a normal person."
"My name is Wanda Maximoff."
Wanda shook her hand. She glanced at Galacta’s puffed cheek, finding it a little odd.
What exactly is this child eating?
Lorien noticed Wanda’s confusion and explained Galacta’s and Galactus’ special constitution to her.
Wanda was so shocked she opened her mouth wide.
"But she... that’s a bit too..."
She stopped herself from saying the word "pitiful" out loud.
Yes. In a sense, Galacta wasn’t as fortunate as Gwen. When it came to misfortune, the only fair comparison was with Wanda and Hela.
Gwen’s family life was far better than either of theirs. Loving parents, a warm and harmonious household, a father with a stable job and good income, and a mother who cared for and understood her.
That alone put her far ahead of Wanda and Hela.
True happiness and love weren’t about ability or status. They were about having a loving family, parents who cared for you, a wife who loved you, and the hope of raising healthy, wise children.
That was real happiness.
Power and ability were only tools to reach that goal.
After all, the good superheroes usually had good families growing up, while the bad ones... well, their childhoods were just as bad. Cough.
But it didn’t matter now. At least Galacta was happy.
Lorien glanced at her, then checked the time.
"Galacta, we’re heading out to buy groceries. What about you?"
Galacta was happily enjoying her Phoenix-brand lollipop. When she heard Lorien was going out, she blinked her big eyes and asked,
"Can I come along and take a look?"
She shifted her energy, and her whole outfit changed into that of an ordinary teenage girl. A pair of brown sunglasses appeared on her face, covering her bright purple eyes.
As for whether she could tag along... Lorien didn’t really care, so he looked at Wanda.
Seeing how pretty Galacta appeared, Wanda thought for a moment before saying,
"You can come along. We can chat."
"Alright!"
So six of them set out for the supermarket: Lorien, Wanda, Hela, Galacta, Bella, and Aria.
Fortunately, Lorien had placed a strong presence-concealment effect on Bella and Aria. Their group only stood out if they actively interacted with others. Otherwise, only acquaintances could recognize them. To strangers, they were nothing more than background passersby.
Buying groceries was just a way to restock supplies. That way, Nora would always have enough ingredients when cooking.
So Wanda typically bought a little of everything and kept the kitchen well-stocked.
As they walked through the streets, picking out vegetables, Wanda chatted with Galacta while Hela occasionally joined in.
"How long have you been on Earth?"
Galacta thought for a moment. "Not that long, I think? I’m not really sure."
"Then what have you been doing all this time? We never even noticed you."
Galacta looked a bit embarrassed. "I usually research technology to try and ease the pain of hunger. When it gets unbearable, I use tech to capture Earth’s viruses—or alien viruses—to fill my stomach."
She paused before adding, "Of course... sometimes I can’t resist stealing a bite..."
"Steal food?" Wanda asked, puzzled.
"I mean monsters," Galacta said with a sigh.
"There are too few monsters on Earth now, and they’re only getting fewer. I used to sneak a few Deviants, or quietly absorb a bit of Celestial Seed energy.
"But now the Deviants are gone, and I have nothing left to steal..."
Well, well.
Lorien couldn’t help but chuckle as he picked out vegetables.
So you’ve even stolen Deviants before.
Wanda, however, only grew more curious. She picked up a piece of fruit and asked Galacta...
"How does it taste? Good or bad?"
"It’s okay."
But Devourer Girl shook her head.
"The fruit you picked only has 40 units of life energy.
That piece of meat has 300.
That skinny guy has 140 billion.
That fat one has 220 billion.
And the one holding the kitten has 40 billion.
As for Earth as a whole, it holds about 97.5 quadrillion units of life energy.
That’s why dead life energy drops drastically, while the living carry far more."
Her words left Wanda and Hela stunned.
She could actually see everything as life energy? That was unbelievable.
"What about me? What about me?" Hela quickly asked, eyes sparkling with curiosity. "If you ate me, how much life energy would I be worth?"
Devourer Girl looked her over.
"The stronger someone is, the more unstable the number feels to me. For you, it’s somewhere around a few quadrillion to several quintillion."
Then she turned to Wanda.
"You have at least several thousand quadrillion up to tens of quintillions. And it’s still growing."
Finally, she looked at Lorien.
"As for you, I can’t even calculate. All I feel is that your energy is overwhelmingly vast—like an ordinary person standing near the sun."
Compared that way, it did make sense.
If she were to look at Gwen, it would probably be at least tens of quintillions, maybe even hundreds of thousands or millions of quintillions.
Lorien didn’t really know how she was calculating, but it seemed about right.
...
Once everyone finished shopping and stepped outside, Wanda opened a crimson portal straight to the kitchen.
"Just put everything inside. Carrying it is too much trouble."
Everyone nodded and placed the groceries through.
"Clap, clap~~"
Lorien dusted off his hands.
"Alright, time to head home and cook. What about you, Galacta?"
Wanda looked at her as well.
"Yeah, want to come over for dinner?"
Galacta was tempted. Whether for the meal or because she knew she needed to deepen her connection with Lorien, it seemed like a good chance. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have given her that energy.
But she also knew sticking too close wasn’t good. They had already imposed enough today.
So she waved her hand.
"I should head home too. I need to be back by 6:30 to enjoy this energy lollipop. Tomorrow I’ll come find Hela to hang out."
Hearing that, Hela’s eyes lit up. She waved excitedly.
"Great! Come at noon tomorrow, I’ll teach you how to play games!!"
"I already know how," Devourer Girl said as if it were obvious. "I’m really good at games."
"Really?!" Hela’s excitement shot up instantly, like a gamer meeting another gamer.
"Then hurry home! You better come tomorrow!"
"Okay~!"
With tomorrow to look forward to, Devourer Girl waved, stuffed her hands into her coat pockets, and headed home.
Hela was thrilled.
Wanda teased her, "Looks like you’ve got yourself a gaming buddy in real life, Hela."
"Mhm, mhm, mhm."
Hela was genuinely happy.
It was like a shut-in gamer not only making a friend but finding someone who shared the exact same passion.
Now they could even team up in real life! How awesome was that?
The best setup for gaming is friends. And the best setup for friends isn’t just being online—it’s being together in real life too!
...
After the five returned home, dinner was quickly prepared and eaten.
Washing dishes was easy—Hela only needed to carry them to the kitchen and let Nora the fridge handle it. Too convenient.
But after dinner, Lorien didn’t take his usual spot on the recliner. Instead, he stretched out on the thick, soft grass.
When Wanda entered the Little Universe, she instinctively waved at him. At first, she almost missed him lying there.
Still, she walked over, sat beside his waist, and leaned back.
Lorien slipped an arm around her. She shifted lightly, resting her head against his chest.
He grinned and pinched her playfully.
"Coming to me on your own today, Miss Witch?"
Wanda nipped gently at his collarbone.
"Yes, Mr. Incubus."
"???"
Lorien blinked in surprise.
Mr. Incubus? Me?
Annoyed, he scooped her up and set her on his waist.
"Getting bold, aren’t you, Miss Witch?"
"It’s your fault!" Wanda rolled her eyes. "Who told you to be exactly my type? You’ve bewitched me completely~"
Those were supposed to be Lorien’s lines. But today, Wanda had flipped the script on him.
Smirking, Lorien used the Phoenix Force to shift both their clothes, then suddenly pushed up in a reverse press.
Wanda froze, then collapsed as if jolted by electricity, trembling slightly.
Lorien chuckled.
"That’s it? Miss Witch?"
"Hmph, I still have my magic to recover!"
...
An hour later.
"That’s it? Water Witch?"
"Achoo~ I still have the Horse Talisman! I forgot to use it earlier!"
Achoo—an adorable little sneeze. It was also the trigger for the Horse Talisman.
As green light flashed across Wanda’s body, Lorien smirked.
So the real challenge begins.
He gathered his strength.
"Alright then, today I’ll show you what it means to walk your own path to destruction!"
