Chapter 68 - 068: Wanda Goes Public with Their Relationship! Lorien Su Toys with Captain America
Before Lorien and Gwen had dinner...
Leipzig-Halle Airport.
After a fierce chase and skirmish, both sides finally converged on the tarmac of this unlucky airport.
Tony glanced at the Winter Soldier standing beside Cap.
"So you came to Germany first, before going to the UN, all because of him?"
Cap looked at the Winter Soldier. "You could say that."
"You’re doing this for a criminal? You’d split the Avengers apart, start a civil war within the team?"
"Tony, Bucky isn’t a criminal—he’s been controlled. My goal is to make sure all superheroes have their freedom, not to divide us."
"But that’s exactly what you’re doing!"
From the moment Tony arrived, he and Cap were already in direct confrontation.
The two groups stood facing each other. Old teammates now stared at each other with open hostility. This was civil war.
Tony turned to glance at the rest of the Avengers. Ant-Man—he didn’t know much about him. Falcon and Cap were both military, so that was no surprise.
But then he looked at Hawkeye.
"Why are you on his side?"
Hawkeye held his bow in one hand, an arrow in the other, and shrugged.
"I don’t have a choice. If the Superhuman Registration Act goes into effect, my family will never live a normal life again. That’s why I have to stop this agreement from being passed.
Unless..."
"I quit the team and disappear with my family."
He said it plainly, even if it sounded cold. But he wasn’t wrong—family came before teammates.
If his family’s safety couldn’t be guaranteed, Hawkeye would choose them without hesitation.
Once the Superhuman Registration Act took effect, every superhero would have to register—or be branded a criminal. Their families would have to register too, provide a permanent address, and stay there without moving. Even if they did move, they’d have to report it.
In other words—their families would be monitored as well.
Who could accept that?
Not me. I’m out.
After hearing Hawkeye’s reasoning, the others fell silent. He wasn’t wrong. He had his reasons.
"Alright, fine," Tony said, nodding in understanding before turning back to Cap. "So, you’re dead set on stopping this agreement?"
"Then let me ask you," Cap replied. "If you were forced down this path, what would you do?"
The question caught Tony off guard. Memories flooded his mind.
After a long pause, he answered, "There was a time I had the chance to make sure superheroes could protect this planet completely—but the plan failed, and the consequences couldn’t be undone. Now there are no more chances. Superheroes can’t fight against the entire world. That’s against what we stand for.
If I did what you’re doing, the Avengers would either be dissolved or reduced to a United Nations task force. And we’d spend the rest of our lives hiding, never able to stand in the light and let justice be seen."
Tony had his reasons. He’d tried—and failed. That one opportunity was gone.
Rebellion meant the end of Stark Industries, the end of the Avengers, the end of everything. Pepper’s good life—gone. Tony wasn’t as free as Cap. He had people depending on him. He couldn’t afford to be reckless.
Right now, Tony felt like the adult, and Cap like the stubborn child.
Hearing this, Cap and the others nodded.
"Looks like we all have our own reasons, huh?" Cap spread his hands. "So what now?"
Natasha glanced at her old teammates and sighed.
"That’s it? Nothing left to say?"
Cap shook his head.
"Whatever happens, we’re leaving within the hour. No one can stop us."
Silence fell. So, nothing left to talk about.
Which meant... the Avengers really were about to fight.
At the back of the crowd, Wanda hesitated. To be fair, no one here had treated her badly, but no one had treated her especially well either. Strictly speaking, everyone here was just a colleague.
But now—her colleagues were about to fight.
What was she supposed to do?
While still hesitating, she quietly took out her phone and sent Lorien a message.
At that moment, Tony’s Friday AI chimed with an alert.
"Sir, Miss Wanda is sending a message to Mr. Lorien Su. Should we intercept it?"
Tony froze for a moment, his mind racing.
Strictly speaking, Wanda hadn’t firmly taken a side yet. And Tony considered himself to have a decent relationship with Lorien Su—the two even had a working arrangement. If Lorien showed up, Tony’s odds of winning might actually improve.
He gave the order without hesitation.
"Don’t intercept it—send it faster!"
A moment later, Lorien received the message.
But Wanda’s little action didn’t escape the notice of Hawkeye and Cap. The two exchanged a glance, then immediately sprinted toward the airport. Ant-Man and the Winter Soldier quickly followed.
"Tony!"
Natasha saw Cap leading the others away and called out in warning.
"I know."
Tony’s expression darkened. He raised his energy cannon and fired to stop them. Cap brought up his shield to block the blasts.
Just like that, the civil war was about to erupt...
...
In a high-rise in northern New York, Lorien and Gwen had just finished changing and were ready to head downstairs.
Gwen had put on her brand-new Spider-Gwen suit. As for why it was new—well, Lorien had torn the old one to shreds. Lorien himself had opted for a more casual look: a shirt and slacks. After slipping on his shoes, he headed out with Gwen, who was bouncing with energy.
They took the private elevator down to the underground garage.
Only then did Gwen seem to realize something.
"Lorien, how are we even getting to Germany? If we go the normal way, we’ll be way too late."
Smack!
Lorien patted her lightly on the rear. "Leave it to me."
When they reached the fiery red Jetfire, Gwen blinked in surprise.
"We’re taking the car too?"
Smack!
This time Lorien’s slap was a bit harder. "I said, leave it to me."
Gwen rubbed her backside with a pout. "Bullying..."
But when Lorien turned away, a small smile tugged at her lips. For some reason, she actually liked it when he did that.
At the front of the car, Lorien raised his hand and made a snapping gesture. "Ready, Gwen? Put on your hood."
"Huh?" She blinked, but quickly pulled on her white mask with the pink eye lenses.
Snap.
The Phoenix Force surged instantly.
In the blink of an eye, the two of them—and the car—vanished from the underground garage.
...
Leipzig-Halle Airport.
Cap was locked in battle with Iron Man. Natasha was keeping Hawkeye in check.
Wanda glanced around, then raised both hands. Chaos Magic flared, and in an instant, Falcon and the Winter Soldier were ensnared in a scarlet grip.
"What?!"
The Winter Soldier froze as the crimson energy wrapped around him. No matter how he struggled, he couldn’t break free—it was as if he’d been shackled.
"What is this?"
After so many years under control, Bucky was completely out of touch with the normal world. Magic was something utterly foreign to him.
"Damn it!"
Falcon, on the other hand, knew exactly how dangerous it was. Seeing the red glow surround him, he nearly lost it. Wanda could crush a truck with one hand—turning the two of them into pulp wouldn’t even take effort.
"Captain! Captain!" he shouted frantically.
Bucky glanced at him in confusion. "Why are you so scared? What is this?"
Falcon had no time to answer. If Wanda decided to, they’d be a pair of red smears on the ground in seconds.
"Cap! Cap!"
Cap turned toward the sound—and his heart sank.
Civil war was one thing. But killing each other? That was outright slaughter.
And once blood was spilled, there would be no turning back.
"No!"
Cap kicked Iron Man back, then shouted toward Wanda.
"Don’t kill them!"
Wanda froze for a moment. She hadn’t planned to kill anyone—she was just holding them for fun and not letting go. They were fighting, after all.
After thinking it over, she flipped her hands and, with two loud thuds, slammed Falcon and the Winter Soldier to the ground.
"Alright, but they’ll have to stay disconnected for a while."
This way, Wanda could step out of the fight and stop worrying about everything else. All she had to do was keep them pinned...
Beep~
Her phone chimed with a special alert—the kind that meant it was from Lorien.
She immediately let go, pulled out her phone, and checked the message.
[Lorien: I’ll be there soon.]
Wanda: ?
"Soon?"
The next second, a layer of red light appeared on the airport tarmac. It flashed once, then vanished—leaving Lorien and Gwen in a car right in the middle of the battle.
"What?" Tony was stunned by their arrival. "What kind of tech is that?"
Cap frowned as he saw them appear. His instincts told him trouble had just arrived.
Natasha looked at the figure beside Lorien and froze.
"Spider-Woman?"
She hadn’t expected this—Spider-Woman was with Lorien. The two showing up together could only mean something unusual.
Wanda, however, had the biggest reaction. She had just realized—Gwen was Spider-Woman. The Gwen who’d been by Lorien’s side all this time wasn’t an ordinary girl at all. She had treated her like one, not knowing she was actually a hidden superhero.
Catching Wanda’s look, Lorien felt a bit guilty and shrugged.
"Ahem, I only found out recently."
That was true. Technically, Gwen’s public reveal happened on the day the Lizard incident ended—not long ago. It wasn’t his fault.
As for the others at the scene, some didn’t even know who Lorien was. But the one who clearly had an issue was Cap.
He locked his shield in place, stood tall, and addressed Lorien.
"This is an internal Avengers matter. I hope outsiders won’t interfere."
At those words, Wanda and Gwen immediately shot Cap hostile looks.
Lorien raised his right hand slightly and shook his head.
"I’m not here to get involved. But Wanda’s been feeling conflicted, so I came to help her sort it out—and put that hesitation to rest."
There were plenty of ways to resolve problems in this world. The simplest was not having to fight at all.
Cap understood what he meant. Lorien wouldn’t fight himself, but he would meddle for Wanda’s sake—and that annoyed him.
He turned to Wanda and shook his head.
"Avengers business shouldn’t involve outsiders. You told someone outside the team about our internal affairs—that’s breaking the rules, Scarlet Witch."
Wanda met his gaze without flinching.
"This ’inside’ you’re talking about is already rotten. Lorien is my partner, and inviting my partner to help with an internal matter is perfectly reasonable."
The moment those words left her mouth, Cap’s expression stayed the same—but Gwen’s changed.
To her ears, Wanda had just made their relationship public. That would make Wanda the first to go public—and Gwen wasn’t having it.
Still, wearing her Spider-Gwen suit, she immediately clung to Lorien’s arm and voiced agreement.
"That’s right. What’s unreasonable about it?"
Heads turned toward Gwen holding onto Lorien’s arm. Wanda noticed too and gave Lorien a smile—one he could feel was anything but friendly.
Tsk.
Only then did Lorien realize coming here in person might have been a mistake. He should’ve just sent Jetfire over. What were he and Gwen even doing here? This was asking for trouble.
But what was done was done. He kept his calm, speaking evenly.
"I’ll just watch—go ahead and fight. But I can offer a fair suggestion. Have Wanda step out, and let the little spider here fight you one-on-one. Winner makes the call."
At this point, talking things out was impossible. Humanity’s oldest instinct was to fight for the outcome—and today would be no different.
Tony, Black Widow, War Machine, Black Panther, and the others exchanged glances, then nodded in agreement.
Cap, however, thought otherwise. He looked to the Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Falcon, and Hawkeye. None of them nodded. A lack of nods meant refusal.
Without even checking the time, Cap shook his head at Lorien.
"No time. We’re in the middle of something important. If you know what’s good for you, don’t get in our way."
Then, true to his fearless nature, he waved his hand.
"Move!"
He led the Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Falcon, and Hawkeye toward the fighter jet.
Lorien didn’t stop them immediately—he just gave a faint smile and shook his head.
Tony and Natasha grew anxious.
"Lorien!"
Wanda and Gwen, on the other hand, stayed calm. They trusted him completely.
Lorien glanced at Gwen.
"Feel like fighting today? Pick anyone you want."
"Yes!" she answered without hesitation. Her gaze swept over the fleeing group before settling on the man with messy hair. She pointed.
"I want the one with the metal arm."
"Alright."
Lorien nodded, raised his right hand, and snapped his fingers.
The five who had been running kept up the motion—but suddenly found themselves back where they’d started, dashing past Tony’s group again.
Cap and his team froze, eyes widening.
"What the hell?!"
"Forget it! Keep running!"
Cap waved them forward, and they sprinted off again.
After a short distance—
Snap.
Lorien’s fingers clicked again, and the same group went past Tony’s team for the third time.
