Lady Cheng’s face revealed a smile, as she wanted to see how Zhuang Ruolan would refuse. Unfortunately for Lady Cheng, Zhuang Ruolan did not refuse, but instead said with a smile-filled face, "As the elder bestows, I dare not decline."

Zhuang Ruolan had never held the extravagant hope that Ma Peng would be hers alone in this lifetime; the notion of a lifetime pair was only found in plays, and only naive girls would believe it. It didn’t matter if he had concubines, but she was resolutely not going to allow a Concubine-born child to be born before she had given birth to a son.
