Chapter 896: Detonation of Beast Core
The realization struck Kyle like a bolt of lightning. Not only had the three-headed black dragon refused to submit, it had chosen to take its own life and drag him down with it, unleashing a final attack so deadly it could kill even top experts.
"Damn it!" Kyle cursed under his breath, his usual calm shattering as his jade-like face grew pale. He knew very well the power of a beast core self-destruction, especially one from a peak Legend Rank beast like this.
Even in its wounded state, the detonation’s destructive force would be unimaginably strong, comparable to a cultivator at the early stage of the Spirit Heaven Realm unleashing their full power. Against such devastation, even he, with all his confidence and strength, could not afford to take it head-on.
Without hesitation, Kyle retreated at an astonishing speed, his body flashing like golden lightning as he shot backward.
"Roar!" The dragon, seeing its enemy flee, unleashed one final, earth-shattering roar. Its three heads tilted back toward the heavens, its blood energy surging violently into the sky. Then came the bang—a deafening explosion as the beast core shattered. A massive blood cloud, ten feet across and pulsating with lethal energy, erupted outward, rolling across the battlefield like a crimson tide of death.
"Golden Sun Shield!" Kyle shouted as his hands moved instinctively, golden light bursting forth from his palms, condensing into a bright, circular shield. He hoped to block the deadly force just long enough to escape unscathed.
But he had underestimated it. This was no ordinary burst of power—it was the full force of a peak Legend Rank beast sacrificing its very essence, a power bordering on the Mythic Rank. The moment the blood cloud struck the shield, it shattered like fragile glass under a hammer.
"Hateful!" Kyle’s eyes narrowed, his face hardening with uncharacteristic ruthlessness as he tried to push his energy outward, summoning his martial arts in desperation. But the blood cloud moved faster than his techniques could form.
Boom! The crimson wave engulfed him, and a sharp metallic taste filled his mouth.
"Puff!" Kyle coughed up a mouthful of blood, his face draining of color as pain seared through his body. His figure was hurled backward like a rag doll, crashing through the air before hitting the ground, his aura flickering weakly for the first time since his arrival.
"Brother Kyle?"
Arnold and his companions cried out in alarm as they saw Kyle’s body hurled back by the terrifying explosion. Instinct urged them to rush forward and help, but the raging blood cloud that had even overwhelmed Kyle’s defenses was still spreading violently across the battlefield.
If they dared to charge in recklessly, they would only share his fate and be obliterated on the spot. Fear rooted them in place, forcing them to retreat several steps, their faces pale and their hearts pounding.
