Chapter 766: Path of Endless Devouring
Max moved quietly through the rows of gleaming scrolls. Yet amid the dazzling array of lethal arts and fierce auras, Max’s gaze eventually settled on something far less aggressive, a single delicate scroll resting on an obsidian stand, its parchment bound in faint silvery threads that shimmered like moonlight.
Invisibility Cloak.
The moment he read the name, something in his instincts told him this was the one. He reached out and carefully lifted the scroll into his hands, feeling the faint pulse of concealed energy thrumming within its delicate folds.
’This skill might come in handy,’ Max thought, his mind already spinning with countless scenarios where such an ability could mean the difference between life and death, infiltration and discovery, or survival and annihilation.
It wasn’t just about fighting power—it was about strategic advantage. And for someone like him, it was one of the must needed skills to have.
With the scroll tucked under one arm and the book of the Immemorial Dragon Elephant Fist Art secure in his grasp, Max walked back toward Elder Liam, who had been observing him from a respectful distance near the chamber entrance.
Elder Liam squinted as he caught sight of the scroll. "Invisibility Cloak?" he repeated, his voice rising slightly in surprise. He reached out and tapped the scroll gently, as though making sure it was indeed real.
"Kid, your choices really are the most difficult ones." His brow furrowed deeper, his expression caught between exasperation and curiosity. "From what I’ve heard, you’d need to cultivate that skill to at least level twenty or thirty mastery before you can become completely invisible. And that’s no easy feat. That could take you five—maybe even ten years—if you want it to reach a practical level. That’s not good for the current you. You’d be better off choosing something immediately useful."
Max’s eyes glinted with a stubborn light, his face calm and polite as he inclined his head slightly in gratitude for the elder’s concern. "Elder Liam, I understand your words, and I appreciate your guidance. But I won’t change my mind."
