Chapter 192 - 192 Back Home
"That's why we are preparing a small team of skilled mages and sword users to attack, once the enemy is discovered the team will be dispatched"
"A small team...I want to be part of that team" Xavier spoke.
All three generals looked at him. If they hadn't seen what he was capable of, they would have rejected him immediately, after all, he was a male. But they couldn't think like that.
None of the generals could leave the Frontlines even if it were to attack the enemy base, their job as given by the Queen was to protect the kingdom.
"Are you sure about that?" The first general asked.
"Yes, I was going to scout by myself in the first place, since that is already done, I'd like to join the team" Xavier replied.
"Alright then, we already picked 10 individuals for that task, they are training separately at the academy, if you want to join the team, then your battle prowess will be checked" She spoke again.
"I don't think it needs to be checked, but it's rules that must be followed, report back to the academy later today, and I'll instruct someone to look after you" the second general added.
"I understand" Xavier spoke as he nodded then he took a deep breath, "I'm going home"
Xavier stepped out of the room and began walking away, Star followed behind him as they walked through the rubble of the capital.
Xavier couldn't believe his eyes, this was really Avalon, he walked forward, his boot crunching against broken wood and stone, most of the houses he saw were either partially destroyed or blackened by flames.
The capital which was usually busy with people running around going about their daily life was quiet, unusually quiet.
Most people stayed indoors, and everyone close to the wall had been relocated further inside.
Xavier knew his way around even with all the destruction, and slowly made his way back to his house, he didn't pass by the academy and followed a different route till he was finally home.
Most of the houses here were untouched, only a few were attacked and of course, the attacks were stopped since all noble families had trained guards, or a member of their family in the army.
Xavier stopped in front of the large gates of his home, he stood there for some seconds just staring, Star didn't understand what was happening but she didn't speak.
He finally stopped and pushed a small part of the gate open. Usually, there was someone there to let guests in, but since he was, Xavier stepped inside the compound.
Xavier looked forward and he could see a single maid, she was cleaning initially but now she was frozen just staring at Xavier.
He recognized her, but before he could speak she darted inside the main house, Xavier knew she was going to call his mother and he just continued forward till he got to the main door that led inside.
He took a deep breath and stepped in.
"Young master" A voice called from the side and Xavier turned to his side to find Anna staring at him.
Immediately her tears turned blurry as she began to cry, she wanted to hug him, she wanted to hold him, she wanted to kiss him, but she couldn't approach him and could only stand there crying as loud footsteps were heard.
He turned towards the stairs and a tiny smile formed on his face as he saw the most familiar face of all, his mother.
Her hair was messy, her eyes were swollen, her face was puffy, and her usually calm expression was gone. He knew she had been crying, but who wouldn't, her only son was thought dead, and her husband died days later.
"Xavier, is that you?" She asked as she rushed towards him.
Xavier walked forward slowly opening his arms as she finally wrapped her hands around his body, she immediately began sobbing with tears reaching down Xavier's shoulder.
"My boy" she muttered as she held him tightly in her embrace.
All three maids in the house were also crying as they watched both of them, they all knew Xavier, some of them from when he was born, so they were all devastated when they heard the news.
Xavier's mother didn't even leave her room after that, she just spent her days sleeping and crying, she couldn't do much since the war was still ongoing, but now her boy was home.
After that she pulled him back and then proceeded to check his body, she touched his cheeks, his shoulder, his arms and legs, and finally his hair, all of which was intact. Then, she wiped the tears off her face.
"I'm sorry for making you worry" Xavier spoke.
"Thank you for returning to me safe, let's go upstairs" She spoke as she held his hands taking him upstairs.
She was so happy her son was back, she didn't notice Star who was standing behind Xavier looking around the house.
Both of them made their way upstairs with Star following behind and she finally stopped at the door while the two went inside.
"So tell me what happened?" His mother asked immediately they sat down.
"The barrier in the academy was first attacked and destroyed, which is the night the attack on Avalon started" Xavier explained.
"I'm sure you know Mia, we were together when we were attacked"
"Yes, she was the girl who told the academy about you" His mother responded.
"I wasn't killed; instead, I was teleported away from the continent to a dungeon that I just managed to survive, and then I found out I was in the beastkin continent" Xavier spoke.
"The beastkin continent? You were transported to the beastkin continent, how did you survive?" She asked.
"I'm pretty powerful" Xavier chuckled brightening the mood before speaking again, "For me, it was just a few days, but here it was two weeks, I think the teleportation messed with my senses"
"Ohh, the most important thing is that you're back home" His mother paused for a while then spoke, "Since you haven't asked, I'm sure you already knew what happened to your father?"
