Chapter 174: The Emperor’s Request
He detailed Adam’s audacious challenge to the Red Team. He described the subsequent one-sided battle where Eric had dismantled the entire faction.
And he explained the unprecedented punishment he had been forced to mete out to Cian and Samba.
As he listened to the story the Emperor placed a hand on his forehead. It was a gesture of profound weary frustration. He let out a long heavy sigh.
"I knew it," he murmured more to himself than to Logan.
"I knew from that very first day I met him in the council room that this boy was going to cause a lot of trouble for me."
The Principal however cut him off. His own expression was now one of a gentle but firm inquiry.
"I still don’t understand the true purpose of your visit David," he said. His tone was now that of an old friend seeking clarity not just a Principal speaking to his Emperor. "Why have you really come to the Academy today?"
The Emperor looked at the Principal. His expression was now very serious his gaze direct.
"I want you to pardon Cian’s punishment Logan," he stated. His voice was calm but firm. It was a clear unambiguous command.
The Principal was not surprised by this. He had on some level anticipated this very request. It was after all the most logical explanation for the Emperor’s sudden unannounced visit. Cian’s family was very powerful and very influential. Of course they would complain to the Emperor.
This was politics.
