Chapter 322 - 317: I Will Protect You
Swap your typical dragon with one who hoards wealth and keeps every Gold Coin for themselves, and they’d never waste their treasure hosting a lavish banquet.
Enjoy life to its fullest; let no goblet face the moon empty. Born with talent, I shall find a use; scatter gold as if it will always return.
Leon isn’t your typical dragon. Having just plundered the Kraken and extorted the Frost Giant, he’s flush with cash — and unconcerned about spending a few hundred Gold Coins. With several dragons under his wing, all of them notoriously voracious, he’s prepared to organize a grand feast, inviting friends and acquaintances to strengthen bonds.
Undoubtedly, dragons were among those on Leon’s guest list. Besides them, there were others: the Efreeti, Ward the Werewolf (formerly the Evil Wolf), Andrea, the ex-pirate captain, and Berrian the Fallen Elf Druid who used to serve Slankus, the elder Green Dragon. Quite a mixed attendance.
"It’s a pleasure to see you again, Lady Melting Roar." Edwin spotted Anglistra from afar and immediately approached her.
Unlike the arrogant and grudging Red Dragon, Edwin, being Human, understood the importance of dissolving enmity. Since he’d soon be working under Leon, he had to foster goodwill with Anglistra, especially considering she’s Leon’s mother — even if Red Dragons rarely cared about familial ties.
"I figured you wouldn’t be pleased to see me," Anglistra, currently in human form, replied. A striking beauty with fiery red hair, she stood taller than Edwin.
Edwin smiled subtly, without responding directly.
"When are you planning to repay me?" Anglistra asked abruptly, not considering the money she was demanding as stirring trouble. True trouble meant greeting Edwin with a burst of Flame Breath.
"I’m sorry; I’m entirely broke at the moment," Edwin said, spreading his hands. Truly, he had no money—he’d left every coin for his descendants back in Bern.
Anglistra narrowed her eyes dangerously at Edwin, scrutinizing him until satisfied he wasn’t lying. Finally, she looked away and remarked, "A Mage this penniless is really embarrassing."
