Tale of the Red Dragon Without Dragon’s Might

Chapter 273 - 269: Devoted Mother and Filial Daughter

Like Salovis, Anglistra didn’t like to appear in human form. She rarely showed herself in that shape, maybe just a few people in the past one or two hundred years had seen her as a human, and among those few, her daughter was undoubtedly one of them.

Despite not having met for so many years, Salovis still recognized Anglistra at a glance, her whole body instantly tensed. She cautiously greeted, "Mother."

"It’s a miracle you still remember me as your mother." Anglistra nodded with a faint smile.

"Of course!" Salovis, knowing how to adapt to circumstances, immediately threw her arms around Anglistra’s slender waist and flattered her, "Mother is always my mother. Even after a thousand years, ten thousand years, I would never forget."

Anglistra, noncommittal, rubbed Salovis’s head, gently stroking her soft, shoulder-length hair. She had the air of a mother happy to be reunited with her daughter after a long parting, saying, "I just heard you mention having hundreds of thousands of gold coins."

"Mother, I’ve missed you so much, missed you to death." Salovis indeed missed her mother terribly, so much so that she couldn’t hear anything else. She rested her head against Anglistra’s chest, nuzzling, "Why did you come to Watchtower Port?"

Anglistra let out a cold laugh, pushed Salovis away abruptly, pinned her head down, and said again, "I just heard you say you have hundreds of thousands of gold coins."

Salovis’s expression didn’t change. She clapped her hands and said, "Look at me. Do I look like someone who has hundreds of thousands of gold coins?"

Anglistra scrutinized Salovis closely, crossing her arms with a nod. "No, you don’t. Right... how could you possibly have hundreds of thousands of gold coins? Even I don’t have hundreds of thousands of gold coins..."

Salovis had just breathed a sigh of relief when she heard Anglistra’s next words: "Even if you don’t have hundreds of thousands, you must have at least a few tens of thousands, don’t you?"

"Don’t try to fool me. You can’t deceive me." Anglistra fixed her eyes on her daughter and suddenly shouted, "Stop looking around. Look into my eyes."
