Chapter 87 Shopping
Leon didn’t have much of a clue on how to dress more "fierce" to deter others from targeting him.
After pondering for a moment, he decided to don a chainmail over his coat and hang a sword at his waist.
Believe it or not, this trick seemed quite effective. Leon noticed that the previously ill-intentioned glances from passersby had now significantly diminished.
Tassera had already mentioned staying here for a while, and with plenty of time, Leon wasn’t in a hurry to buy Mithril or refined gold, or any other Magic Items. He planned to wander around first, thinking he’d check out the shops, but unexpectedly he spent most of his time observing people.
Races like Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, and Half-Elves were common and hardly worth mentioning, but encountering Centaurs and Aarakocra for the first time was truly novel for Leon.
"Sir, please, can you spare a little?"
"I haven’t eaten for a day."
Leon saw a fat dog running across the street carrying a severed hand and noticed the destitute child beggars curled up in the corners, their clothes barely covering them. As their gazes met, they began crowding around him. They initially looked numb... Was it because he seemed approachable?
Leon wasn’t sure when he had become so cold-hearted. Seeing those pitiable child beggars now did almost nothing to stir his emotions; he was merely disgusted subconsciously, thinking, "Please don’t dirty my clothes," and wary that they might steal something.
Indeed, in a place like Crossroads City, where could you find simple and naive children? What happened next was within Leon’s expectations. Little hands reached towards his trousers, but of course found nothing... Compared to the robbers he had encountered not long ago, he was rather lenient this time, merely driving the child beggars away.
"You didn’t give them money, which is good. Those kids are all part of the Orphan Gang. Once you give them money, they’ll cling to you every day." A thin Tiefling girl came up to Leon and reminded him, "Check if you’ve lost anything."
