Chapter 53: Meaning?



Avelina walked beside Draven to their room, and Draven shut the door after they entered.

He plopped down onto the sofa and rested his head back, seeming a bit tired.

Avelina, who noticed, wondered what could be wrong, so she inquired, "Uh... Draven, are you okay?"

Draven glanced at her. "Why do you ask?"

"Well, you look paler than usual. It’s as if you are sick," Avelina replied, sounding a bit concerned.

Draven waved his head in disagreement. "I am not sick. I’m just feeling drained, and it’s because I missed my morning sleep," he explained.

Avelina bit her lower lip, very aware that it was her fault. She let out a soft breath and smiled at him. "There are still two hours till it clocks noon, so do you think you could maybe—"

"No, I don’t feel sleepy anymore. I don’t like to wake up in the middle of my sleep because once I do, I can’t sleep anymore until the next day." Draven stood up from the sofa. "Don’t blame yourself, though, it is not your fault. I chose to wake up. It was my choice."

"I’ll just have a glass of blood. I will feel better afterward." He walked out of the room.

A deep breath fled Avelina’s nose, and she went ahead to have her shower.
