A Game Of Chess With A Vampire

Chapter 39: Natasha!!

Draven nodded as if in thought.

"You were a slave to my kind, and they did not treat you even a tiny bit well, so it is only natural that I expected you to be hostile towards any vampire, including me, even if you don’t have to show it for the sake of your safety."

"The humans to whom no wrong has been done are quite belligerent. Most of them that I have met are like that, which is why I said you are different," he concluded.

Understanding his point, Avelina chuckled. "It doesn’t really make me different."

"And honestly, I won’t lie, I do hate vampires. I just don’t loathe you in particular," she added. "I am antagonistic towards your kind, but just not to you. That is it! It is not that I am not belligerent."

Draven’s expression turned solemn.

"That is strange."

"Why do you say so?" Avelina was curious. "Don’t You hate humans?"

Draven shook his head. "No."

"Huh?" Avelina was stunned.

Draven remained silent, a bit lost in his sudden thoughts. He slightly tilted his head and said, "Humans are not such good creatures, but we are no better than them. They didn’t wrong me, so why despise them?"
