Chapter 42: Did you kiss me on purpose?
"Younger Uncle, thank you for saving me again." An Yan’s eyes were full of gratitude.
Fu Shiyan turned around, his tone light, "Do you not have any sense of self-rescue or survival?"
"What?"
"Didn’t you try to grab the fence to save yourself?"
An Yan thought to herself. Fu Shiyan was so clever; he had seen through her little scheme.
She took a step forward and stood behind the man, her voice nasal, "I caught a glimpse of a figure out of the corner of my eye, so I was distracted. It wasn’t until I fell into the water that I realized it must have been my hallucination. By the time I thought to save myself, An Yirou was pulling at my waistband toward the propeller. Younger Uncle, I felt so hopeless until you appeared before me."
An Yan’s explanation was somewhat convincing, and his appearance was indeed unexpected—even he found it incredible.
However, he was glad about today’s decision, considering the unthinkable consequences if An Yan hadn’t been rescued in time.
An Yan looked at the man’s shirt, stained with a faint hint of blood, and her heart tightened. She couldn’t help but reach out and loosely wrap her arms around his slender waist, pressing against his back, "Younger Uncle, your wound has gotten infected again because you saved me. I always cause you trouble. Won’t you hate me?"
Fu Shiyan looked down at the small hands around his waist, skin slightly wrinkled from being soaked in the seawater for a long time. He grasped her delicate wrist gently and slowly pulled it away, "No."
