Beneath the Alpha's Moon

Chapter 171: Eyes in the Dark

TERESA’S P.O.V.

Luke was the first to storm out of the office, his heavy footsteps echoing down the hallway. I caught a glimpse of his clenched fists before the door slammed shut behind him. My brother who had always been calm and collected was now like a volcano, always simmering, and tonight felt dangerously close to eruption.

"Guess I’ll babysit the hothead," Rylan said with a grin, his voice laced with sarcasm. He grabbed Gregory by the back of his shirt like he was hauling a particularly annoying child.

"Let me go, you don’t know who you’re dealing with!" Gregory screeched, his voice cracking as he tried to yank free.

"Shut it," Rylan growled, his patience wearing thin. "You’re lucky Adrian hasn’t turned you into dust."

As if on cue, Adrian—calm, collected Adrian—got up from his chair and walked towards Gregory. "Actually..." Adrian’s eyes gleamed with a dangerous glint, his lips curling into a small, almost lazy smile. He flicked his hand, and Gregory’s eyes widened in terror, his breathing quickening as he stumbled. "No! Not again! I’ll behave, I swear!"

Rylan gave him a mocking pat on the shoulder. "Oh, don’t worry, buddy. You’ll be seeing two pink headless dancing dragons in no time."

Lucian’s eyebrow arched as he looked at Adrian. "Why reactivate the hallucinations?" he asked, his tone amused.

Adrian’s expression didn’t shift. "He got on my nerves."

The room was silent for a beat before I snorted, the laugh escaping before I could stop it. "Adrian, you’re terrifyingly petty," I said, shaking my head.

"Petty?" Adrian echoed, feigning offense. "I prefer ’creatively vengeful.’"
