Beneath the Alpha's Moon

Chapter 115: Believe Me

LUCIAN’S P.O.V.

The weight of Teresa’s gaze felt heavier than usual. I could feel the questions racing through her mind, even though she didn’t speak them aloud. Her breathing was steady, but her pulse betrayed her—it hammered away like a war drum. She was trying to stay calm, but I could feel the storm brewing inside her. It mirrored the chaos in my own chest.

I cleared my throat, feeling Ares stirring in the back of my mind. "Be careful," he warned, his voice smooth yet insistent. "You’re going to confuse her even more if you don’t explain this right."

I ignored him. Of course, he had plenty to say. He always did.

"Before I explain everything about the mark, you need to understand something about Ares first," I said softly, my voice rougher than usual.

Her hands twitch in mine, her voice raised a bit defensively. "Ares. Right. The wolf you keep blaming for... everything." Her tone was clipped, laced with disbelief. "Fine. Explain. But this better make sense, Lucian. I’m not in the mood for any more cryptic nonsense."

I nodded. "Alright. Werewolves are... complicated," I began, pausing to collect my thoughts. "We’re not just men, and we’re not just wolves. We’re both.Teresa. We’re... two souls in one body. There’s me—Lucian Blackwood—and then there’s Ares Edgar, the wolf."

I could feel her strong gaze on me. "Two souls? Lucian, you realize how crazy that sounds, right?"

"Trust me, Teresa," I said with a faint, humorless chuckle, "it feels crazier to live it. Ares and I balance each other."
