Chapter 93: Fix Her
TERESA’S P.O.V.
I stared at Lucian, Adrian, and the red-haired woman like they were the unholy trinity. My mind raced, every nerve in my body thrumming with panic and fury. The silver in Mai’s eyes was so unnatural; an otherworldly glow that made my stomach churn.
"Explain!" I snapped, my voice trembling. "Why are her eyes like this? What did you do to her?!"
Lucian cleared his throat, looking more nervous than I’d ever seen him. His usually confident demeanor was nowhere to be found. "Teresa," he began softly, his voice tinged with guilt. "We can’t talk about this here. Come with me to my office—it’s private. What I need to tell you shouldn’t be overheard."
"Private?" I shot back, my anger bubbling over. "What makes you think I trust you enough to go anywhere with you?"
Adrian, ever the smooth talker, chimed in, his words heavy. "Teresa, please," he said, his deep voice soothing and infuriating all at once. "Wolves have advanced hearing. What we need to discuss concerns your daughter’s future, and it’s not safe to talk here. I know you’re angry, confused, and hurting terribly, but we’ll explain everything. Just give us the chance to make it right."
My laugh was sharp and bitter. "Future? Her eyes are glowing like flashlights! How do you plan to make that right, Adrian? Glue some normalcy onto her face?"
The red-haired woman stepped forward, her hands raised as if I were some wild animal about to pounce. "Please, Miss Teresa, calm down—"
"Don’t you dare tell me to calm down!" I shouted, my voice cracking. "My baby has been toyed with by forces I don’t understand, and you’re standing there telling me to calm down? Shut up! Just shut up!"
The woman flinched, clearly unused to being shouted at, but I didn’t care. My rage burned hotter than her discomfort. Turning to Lucian, I bit out, "Lead the way. But know this—I’m only this calm because of my baby. If you don’t fix her, I swear you’ll regret ever knowing me."
Lucian nodded solemnly, gesturing for us to follow. As he ascended the stairs, Adrian and the woman trailed behind him, their expressions grim. I waited until they were halfway up before I followed, clutching my babies so tightly my arms ached.
