Chapter 53: The Start Of Intersection
As they were searching the ruins, Cail encountered at least seven suspicious people. They reeked of rot and sourness. Cail avoided them at all costs.
Veyr had already forgotten about the Dealer. While he was smart, he did have the short attention span that children are usually known for.
After feeding the child, Cail remembered something important. Wasn’t he supposed to ask how to get out of here? How did he forget that? Probably because of how excited he was about the deal.
"But aside from discovering something wrong about the sister’s relationship, it seemed like Inshi’s man really did care about her." Cail remembered the trap inside the house. It was a physical trap, not a void one. Cail was certain that man would probably come running back.
"How sweet," he thought, but his face didn’t say so. He looked like he had eaten something disgusting thinking about that.
As for how to escape this void rift, to be honest, Cail was feeling a bit good right now. Maybe he’d find a way later.
Veyr peeked at him. "Brother, I’m feeling exhausted. Carry me!"
Cail looked at this little burden. Although he would carry him, the way this guy ordered him around made Cail think that this kid was treating him like a servant. Was he also like this to his parents?
He crossed his arms as he looked at Veyr. "You have been pretty troublesome. You walk." Anyway, he was not in a rush.
To be honest, this kid had been a handful. But also because of him, Cail discovered that some devices still worked. Even though this place was still abandoned, appliances here seemed to be wired to exist for a long time before recharging. Cail remembered the note that he read before... The Project Coreline. Did that have something to do with why the energy stored within the appliances was still there even after many years?
The door was still nagging Cail in the back of his mind.
