Chapter 52: Instructor Selection

Kaizer and Rina glanced at Madam Sylvia, silently, waiting for whatever offer she would make.

"Erhum, first off, I will offer you five things. The first is around-the-clock tutorship that caters to your specific needs at all times. It doesn’t matter whether it is midnight or early morning, if you have any questions, issues, or problems in the growth of your esper ability, I will drop everything to help you."

"The second is special missions. I am also serving as a Deputy Branch Manager for the Esper Commission branch in the academy and can secure the best, safest, and most efficient tasks to take on for your practicals."

"The third thing I can offer is specialized resources not just from the academy, but from the archives of my own esper clan. I hail from the Seltzer Family, an esper lineage that has existed since 1457 and has persisted till now, producing consistent top-quality espers since then. Our library may not reach the esper academy level, but we have things that even the esper academy does not have."

"The fourth is a special subsidy. In order to prevent you from being distracted by the need to acquire funds, I will present you a villa lodging with the best service for your daily comforts, allowing you to focus solely on your practice without having to take on work on the side."

"The fifth thing I can give you are special privileges in all facets of the academy’s operations, given my reputation and standing within the school. Along with that comes the benefit of interacting with my personal community of disciples, most of whom are A-grade espers, with two other S-grade espers under my belt, who would be your fellow apprentices."

Madam Sylvia smiled confidently. "Choosing me is choosing success. I have the knowledge, I have the backing, I have the power, and I have the resources. What more could you want?"

Rina’s eyes lit up, but she still glanced towards Kaizer, who was nonplussed. She understood that it was not time to make a move and simply glanced at the other instructors, who had ugly expressions.

From Madam Sylvia downwards, the instructors also made their offers, which were, in some aspects, better than Madam Sylvia’s, but in others far worse. For example, they offered a lot of money but could not offer the privileges, the backing, and the knowledge that Madam Sylvia did.
