Thevan’s breath caught in his throat. His pupils darted wildly, like he was looking for an escape, anything to get away from her gaze.
Just like before, his mind suddenly fell into silence. It was as if ... he’d fallen under her control again.
Primrose took a step closer.
"You thought you were the one pulling the strings. But the truth is ..." She lifted the corner of her lips into a faint smirk, not enough for the soldiers to notice, but enough to make Thevan’s skin crawl. "... I’m the one holding the leash around your neck."
She stepped closer to him slowly, like a deer calmly observing the dying tiger.
The one who used to hunt her was now too weak to move, and for once, she was the one looking down on him.
Edmund moved slightly, instinctively wanting to stop her, but for some reason, he chose to stay still and let her go.
"I kept having nightmares about you," Primrose whispered, bending down until her face was level with Thevan’s. "But now ... I think I was just being foolish."
She tilted her head slightly. "Why should I be afraid of someone who’s already under my control?"
Thevan still didn’t say a word, but the look on his face said everything.
He was terrified of her, more than he ever feared Edmund, the one who tortured him for days.
