The Mind-Reading Mate: Why Is the Lycan King So Obsessed With Me?

Chapter 87: A Hidden Genius

Silas pulled out a small leather pouch from his medicine bag. Even from where she was lying, Primrose could smell the strong scent of herbs wafting through the air.

If he really had poisoned her in her past life by using something that had no taste or smell, then slipping poison into something as strong-smelling as this herbal powder would be easy.

"This powdered herb works well for treating fevers," Silas said as he untied the pouch. "It’s a little bitter, but I can add honey so Your Majesty can drink it more easily."

He gave a subtle nod to his assistant to prepare the medicine. But just as he was about to hand the pouch over, Primrose spoke up.

"Can someone other than a doctor prepare that herbal drink?" she asked calmly.

Silas answered without much thought. "Yes, anyone can brew this kind of medicine. It’s also sold in local pharmacies."

"In that case," Primrose said with a small smile, "please give it to the maid. She’ll make it for me."

Silas’s smile faltered for a moment. It didn’t fully disappear, but there was a small crack in his expression. "May I ask why, Your Majesty? Wouldn’t it be better if I handled it myself?"

Edmund looked at Primrose in surprise. But he didn’t say anything. He trusted her and knew she wouldn’t say that without a reason.

"It’s already late," Primrose said, lowering her gaze slightly as if embarrassed. "After I drink the medicine, I’ll probably fall asleep right away. But I haven’t even changed out of my dress or washed my face. Sleeping like this would make me uncomfortable."

She looked up at Silas with a soft, innocent expression. "So I’d rather drink it after I’ve changed into something more comfortable. I hope that will be alright?"
