Chapter 34: A Sweet Lady-in-Waiting (I)
Solene Delauney.
She was the daughter of Marquess Delauney, the ruler of Ravencourt—a borderland territory. Because of its location, the House of Delauney had always been entrusted with protecting the frontier.
Their family name was legendary. The Delauneys were known for producing some of the finest knights, commanders, and warriors in history. People whispered that every single one of them was either a master swordsman or a brilliant strategist. Even the women.
In Primrose’s first life, Solene had only entered her life more often after Leah’s death. She had been one of her ladies-in-waiting and, if she had to be honest, her absolute favorite.
That was because Solene was fun!
She was the kind of person who was friendly to everyone and didn’t act stiff like most beasts. Just look at her smile! Primrose used to joke that Solene had to be a rare specimen among beastfolk because her facial muscles weren’t stiff from constantly frowning.
Whenever boredom struck, Solene would teach her traditional beastfolk games. Most of them required immense physical strength, which meant Primrose couldn’t participate in all of them, but it was still fun to watch.
Unfortunately, that joy had been short because Primrose had died too soon.
But now that Leah was out of the picture, she had the chance to meet Solene much earlier this time.
Hopefully, she wouldn’t turn out like Silas, who was secretly harboring resentment against her. If that were the case, Primrose might just give up on believing in kindness altogether.
"Yes!" Solene beamed, her grin so wide that her teeth flashed brilliantly. "I’m Solene Delauney! From now on, I’ll be in charge of keeping you safe here!"
