The abandoned building lay in silence, the faint sound of a distant wind brushing through its cracks.
Inside, Adam sat calmly on a worn-out chair, his piercing gaze locked onto Krish, who stood a few steps away.
Krish had just finished relaying the President’s compliance with Adam’s orders, and the weight of the moment was evident on his face.
Adam slowly rose from his chair, the sound of its legs scraping against the concrete floor echoing in the room.
He took deliberate steps toward Krish and Emily, his imposing presence causing both of them to instinctively step back.
Fear lingered in their eyes, though Krish tried to maintain a semblance of composure. Emily, however, found it harder to mask her unease, her body stiff as she shuffled further away.
Standing before them, Adam’s voice carried both authority and assurance.
"I want both of you to live for The Union and the common people," he began, his tone steady. "What you do in your personal lives is of no concern to me. I grant you full liberty and freedom in that regard. But know this—I will ensure that neither of you uses your powers in any way that causes harm."
The words struck a chord. Both Krish and Emily nodded in understanding, though the gravity of his declaration was clear.
Adam turned his attention to Emily, his sharp eyes studying her closely. "By the way," he asked, "what do you do? You don’t seem very old."
