Dust hung heavy in the air, mingling with the sharp tang of scorched metal and broken tiles.
Amidst the debris, Adam stood beside the metallic chair that had emerged moments earlier. On the chair lay a man, motionless, his eyes closed as if in deep slumber.
The stillness was broken as Adam’s invisible slash tore through UV1, severing him cleanly in two.
The remnants of UV1’s cloned form collapsed onto the fractured floor, lifeless. And then, as if awakened by the final blow, the man on the chair stirred.
His eyes snapped open, wide with fear and confusion, as he bolted upright and looked around in panic.
From a short distance, Ani watched, her breath catching in her throat. Her usually composed demeanor faltered at the sight. It’s him... UV1 again? she thought, astonished.
Adam remained calm, his voice steady as he addressed the man now fully awake on the chair. "So, how does it feel to finally face me in your real body?"
The words sent a visible shiver through UV1. His body stiffened, and his wide eyes betrayed the terror coursing through him.
For so long, he had relied on the safety of his clones, orchestrating battles from the shadows of the central tower’s deepest levels.
