Chapter 143: The Prisoner and the Throne
The hideout was deathly silent, save for the faint hum of the massive machine that now dominated the space.
All the children lay unconscious, scattered across the cavern floor. Ani, however, remained standing.
Her body was rigid, her arms raised above her head in surrender. Fear clung to her like a second skin, but she remained alert, her wide eyes darting toward the white-suited soldier.
The leader of the intruding soldiers, the imposing figure in the white suit—known as CP—stepped forward, his reflective visor gleaming under the artificial lights. He tilted his head slightly, observing Ani with what seemed to be a mix of curiosity and surprise.
"She’s still conscious," CP remarked, his voice cold and mechanical. Turning to the soldiers behind him, he commanded, "Send this one to All-Father. Immediately."
CP is very surprised to see Ani because he sees a different quality in Ani which he has never seen in anyone else till date, that is why he has instructed those soldiers.
The soldiers exchanged glances, hesitating for a moment. Despite their obedience to CP’s authority, a flicker of doubt crossed their movements.
Some shifted uncomfortably, their rifles trembling slightly. One soldier finally spoke up, his voice muffled by his helmet. "All-Father’s orders were clear. No unnecessary actions without his approval."
CP’s visor turned toward the dissenting soldier, and an oppressive silence filled the air. Slowly, CP raised a hand, silencing any further objections. "Do as I say," he growled.
Two soldiers approached Ani cautiously. She took a step back instinctively, her breath quickening. Adam... she thought desperately, her mind reaching out to the only person she believed could save her. Please... come for me.
As the soldiers neared, one of them produced a small, cylindrical device from his belt.
