Chapter 86: The Mall of Despair
Near Adam’s home, just a short distance away, stood a large mall, a structure that normally thrived with life.
Tonight, however, the mall was a grim beacon of despair.
Though it should have been closed at this hour, its doors remained open, providing essential goods to those who braved the vampire-infested world.
Desperate for food, water, and supplies, a few people had ventured into the mall. They carried hope that their quick errand would be uneventful.
But hope was fleeting.
As the vampires caught wind of the survivors inside, their purpose became singular: to spread their curse as far as possible.
The government and authorities were helpless, no closer to finding a solution against the vampire menace.
Inside the mall, fear had turned the air cold. The survivors were trapped. They’d sealed all the entrances with shelves, tables, and anything they could find.
Yet outside, vampires gathered in numbers, their inhuman strength denting the gates with each pounding strike.
Those inside watched helplessly as the barriers weakened.
One of the trapped survivors, a young man with a thin, pale face and shaking hands, decided to act.
