Chapter 45: Sona adjusting with Adam
Adam felt the warmth of his own breath against Sona, who rested delicately on his wrist, close to his face.
Though barely conscious, Sona began to feel uncomfortable, twitching slightly as his warm breath surrounded her tiny frame.
Gradually, she blinked her eyes open. Her golden, iridescent wings, previously folded around her body, spread wide, their ethereal shimmer catching the dim morning light.
She blinked a few more times, adjusting her gaze before fully focusing on Adam, whose face was close—too close.
In an instant, Sona's wings fluttered in a rapid motion, lifting her off Adam's wrist and pulling her a bit further back from his face.
With both hands covering her mouth, she turned slightly, her face pink with embarrassment. "Lord Adam, I told you—I get so embarrassed when you look at me like that while I'm sleeping. Were you... watching me?" Her voice came out soft yet laced with flustered frustration.
Realizing his actions, Adam felt a pang of guilt. He raised both hands in a gesture of surrender, a sheepish grin spreading across his face. "I'm sorry, Sona. It's just... you looked so adorable. I couldn't resist," he admitted honestly.
Sona, though still slightly red-faced, slowly lowered her hands and turned to look at him, her expression softening. "There's no need to apologize, Lord Adam. It's just... I'm not used to being watched. That's why I reacted that way." She fluttered back to him, perching herself gently on his shoulder, though a slight blush still colored her cheeks.
Adam shook his head, trying to refocus. "Well, it's getting late. I need to get going," he said, shifting his thoughts back to his morning routine.
As he descended the stairs toward the dining room, he wondered, Let's see if my parents can see Sona or if she's only visible to me.
Upon reaching the dining room, Adam greeted his parents with a quick "Good morning!" before moving on, observing their expressions closely.
